Anne Burrell, the Food Network star who hosted "Worst Cooks in America" and "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef," died June 17, 2025, at her home in New York City at the age of 55.
Burrell was recognizable for her distinctive spiky blonde hair, but it was her outgoing on-air personality that made her a star of the Food Network. She delighted audiences on her own shows, as well as with her guest appearances on programs like "Iron Chef America" and "The Best Thing I Ever Ate."
When not on the air or in the kitchen, Burrell gave her time to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation as a celebrity ambassador and was on the advisory board of the Garden of Dreams Foundation, among other charitable works. She was the author of "Cook Like a Rock Star" and "Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire and Empower."
"Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring," the Food Network said on the social media platform X. "Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss."

Please accept my sincere condolences to the Burrell Family for your beloved wife and mother Anne, gone too soon. Anne Burrell, the Food Network star who hosted "Worst Cooks in America" and "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef." We hope and look to a time when dealing with issues of any kind no longer involves suicide of a person taking their precious lives. May family, friends and extended family cherish her memories.

I recall Ann's show, and she would slap a large roast and say something like: "Come here, you beautiful pork "butt", and she would cook hers off during the show. Hilarious!!! In the current runs of Worse Cooks, Ann is delightful and ebullient as always. At the end of the show, they flash up the "In Memoriam" notice she's gone. The "WHY?" feels like a keloid hanging on the heart forever. We pray for her husband and family for healing. Our family feels your pain. We were happy she married and as camera shots showed her hands, I admired her gorgeous wedding rings. We miss her. Ann was a super star Chef; her legacy continues via reruns! We'll watch them because Ann Burrell was awesome!!

She won year after year, no matter the other chefs she competed against!! Although I have been cooking for over 65 years, I always learned a tip or trick from her.
Rest in peace!

I am so thankful that I got Anne´s cook book years ago! I have followed her for many years and she was one of my faves! Her love of color, music, cooking, creating was displayed each time we saw her! Perfection on a plate! She had the best qualities of a person who loved to teach, showing such great techniques. The whole food entertainment will miss her as well as her fans, but hope every time we see a red marker, we think of Anne, the chef, the instructor, the singer, one of the most colorful beautiful chefs and we were so lucky to know her! You will be missed Anne but not forgotten. Love from Ontario Canada and me!

She was a treasure and one of my faves! You will be so missed Anne. Fan in Ontario, Canada

While my Dad introduced me to Food network and Iron chef, it was watching you as a sous chef that made me keep watching. Worst cooks was one I needed to be on as I burned hard boiled eggs and made meatballs that were no better than wet cardboard. I never applied because I didn´t want to be away from my babies. I learned so much from watching you and in my own time went from can´t cook to making most of my husbands favorite Puerto Rican dishes. Thank you for following your heart in the culinary world and for all you did to teach people how to not just cook better but how to enjoy it. Thank you for your high energy, fun sense of humor, genuine smile, and your inspiration! You were loved by millions and will never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Chef. Anne.

How strange that Henry and I decided to take a trip to Cazenovia, in upstate New York, June 10-17, to visit the town where I lived as a child. I wanted to revisit the fond memories of the town where Ann Burrell, a renowned chef, also grew up. It had been nearly 70 years since I lived there.
We enjoyed the popular Brae Loch and the Lincklaen House and thought of how that cozy town surely influenced Ann Burrell's life. The day we left to go home to Florida was the day she passed. Ann will be sorely missed as a talented chef, as well as a humanitarian. We love you Ann. God bless!

I was saddened when I heard Anne passed away. She was my #1 chef on the Food Network and love watching her on her teachings on Worst Cooks. Will always remember her and Bobby Flay laughing on an EP where someone tried to grill cheese and actually grilled the cheese and they both were dying laughing. Not only do I like her cooking style but I like her saying in Brown Food Tastes Good and many others. Mostly love her competitiveness! She wanted to win and if you beat her in some kind of food competition, know you beat the best. Those that knew her like her family and friends, us fans will miss that smile and the thing you do best is cooking. Fly High Anne!

As our skillets simmer to an "applause". I remember all I have learned from Anne watching her, and using her cook books. I promise to always, "Taste as I go, remind others that "Brown food tastes good." Use plenty of the "Holy Trio" Olive oil, salt and bacon when it calls for it and Mise En Plause in her honor daily. My name is Jim from Malone, I watched an on TV all the time love to watch her cook. Then last year I lost both my parents five weeks apart. Totally devastating to me as an only child. I didn´t know much about cooking, but went back and watched many episodes and cooking. I started off slowly making eggs and bacon. Then I tried my hand at spaghetti and meatballs then I try to ribeye steak and baked potato with with asparagus and now I made a pot roast last night mashed potatoes and gravy. I now live alone but doing ion. Thank you ANNE for the cooking lesson that I watched on TV. Heaven is a l a lot more brighter with and smile, her laughter and joy. And we never know maybe teaching the angels to cook for our heavenly father and thank you for the memories. I will always hold and beep in my heart and my daughter. My condolences to the family rest in peace AMME.you will never be forgotten. And love on our hearts forever..
