Anne, my childhood friend from 1st through 12th grade, physically left this world almost a year ago. Though 30 years have progressed, I was devastated to hear of her passing!

Anne's gentle nature, her zest for life, the ray of sunshine and warmth she brought to all that knew her, left an indelible impression on me!

I remember her kind words, peaceful green eyes, and compassionate actions. Anne's infectious smile, soulful laugh, intense competiveness and brilliant intelligence always remained in my thoughts.

My shared experiences and memories of Anne, will forever, remain in my heart! I am grateful that I was honored and blessed to share in her spirit, friendship and life!

I cannot imagine the sense of loss and grief of those that knew her life as an adult! I hope that time will heal the wounds of everyone that loved and cared for Anne!

My most sincere condolences to husband Richard, her mother, and all family and friends that her life journey touched!

In Memory of Anne Dillon

Anne was a dear friend and my MIT Alpha Phi big sister, in addition to being a brilliant scientist.  She was the kindest most bubbly person I have ever met. She was always a rock for me to lean on and had the easiest most infectious laugh.  I am still in shock and am deeply saddened at both my own, her family and friends as well as humanity's loss.
For a look at her professional accomplishments see: http://www.nrel.gov/energysciences/chemical_materials/staff/anne_c_dillon
There will be a Memorial service for Anne at noon on Sunday, September 30th at the Spice of Life Event Center, 5706 Arapahoe Blvd in Boulder and a lunch following hosted by her husband Rich.
An MIT scholarship fund has been established in her name to be given to an undergraduate woman in chemistry. The link is:

This is very sad news. Anne was a good friend to my sister, and I will always remember her for that. Good people should not die young.

I am so lucky to be a coworker of Anne, with her helping me with mass spectrometer experiments. She is smart, energetic, athletic, dynamic, and also very passionate. She will be missed. It's also comforting to kwow that she will never have to worry about not having enough DOE funding at NREL to cover her group, that is how dedicated she is.

Annie was always a bright and cheerful face at our extended family gatherings. I will always be indebted to her for helping me start my engineering career and for the support and encouragement she gave me. I am very saddened at this loss, and extend my prayers to Richard and the Dillon family for her passing and the many other losses experienced this year.

I have so enjoyed working with Anne over the last several years. Her enthusiasm for science and mentoring young scientists will be missed greatly by all those she has mentored and worked with. We are all so blessed and she has enriched our lives and driven our passions for living life to the fullest. Anne you will always remain a part of so many.

In thought and prayer,

My deepest sympathies to all who love Anne. I am sad that healing on earth was not to be for Anne, but I trust that she is completely healed and set free in her eternal home. May the Lord comfort you all. Also, may you remember the good times with Anne while the bad ones fade away from memory.

Anne will be remembered as a loyal friend, amazing athlete, a gifted researcher, dedicated mentor to students and postdocs, and strong supporter of women in science. She also made the best pancakes in Colorado and beyond! I feel very fortunate to have been her friend.

Anne was my sorority sister at M.I.T. I remember her as a beautiful girl with a clear complexion and a quick smile. She had a good word for everyone and was a warm and compassionate listener. At a place where everyone was bright, she was one of the brightest and immediately after graduation, she went on to pursue a PhD in Physical Chemistry.

In this demanding discipline, Anne was again at the top of her field. She became a principal scientist at a national lab and held academic appointments at two very good universities. She was loved, respected, and will be remembered by many. She will be missed.
