Anne Landers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 6, 2024.

Anne Ballentine Landers, a cherished mother, grandmother, and wife entered eternal rest on December 3, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on November 16, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Reverend Jacob Luther and Frances Dickson Ballentine.

Anne's life was a beautiful symphony of faith, family, and music. A graduate of Newbury College with a degree in music education, she shared her musical gifts as a church organist, where her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched many. Her music was not just a profession but a ministry, bringing solace and joy to all who heard it.

Anne was a loving sister to Carol Ballentine and Frances "Bobbi" (Mike) Metz. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she was a devoted mother to Luther (Margaret) McClellan and Jonathan (Alexis) McClellan. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Emilee Kate McClellan.

Her legacy of love continues through her five grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Matt) Tracy, Alexsys (Jose) Munoz, Jacob (Cheyenne) Screws, Jackson McClellan and Blakeley McClellan. Anne was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who filled her life with immense joy.

On June 23, 2008, Anne married David Charles Landers, with whom she shared years of love and deep friendship. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Anne's life was a testament to the power of love, music, and faith. Her family and friends find comfort in knowing she is at peace, embraced by the divine love she so deeply cherished. Her memory will forever be a blessing.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11am on Monday, December 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elloree, South Carolina. Pastor Mitch Evans and Pastor Michael Popp will officiate. Flowers can be sent to the Fogle-Hungerpillar Funeral Home at 6329 Old Number Six Highway in Elloree, SC (29047) or a donation can be made in Anne's name to Newbury College's Department of Music.

Before attending Newberry College, Anne studied piano with my mother Betty Lou Shirer. I remember watching and listening to her lessons through the French doors (when I was real little) and admiring her abilities. My mother would assign her a new piece and Anne would show up at her next lesson with the piece memorized!! She was a very gifted lady and I will always admire her for her talent. ----Louis

My first memory of my grandmother is her playing the piano while I sat on the living room floor listening! My last memory of her is her holding my son, her great-grandson in that same house!
