Anne-Marie R. Mattoon CHICOPEE - Anne-Marie R. (Servant) Mattoon, RN, 36, of Telegraph Avenue, died at home Monday, May 16, after a courageous and inspiring battle against brain cancer. Anne-Marie leaves her husband Kevin R. Mattoon, who has loved her for many years and devoted his life to her. She also leaves her mother, Mary (Reil) Servant of Southbridge, who would have done anything for her; her father, Germain Servant of Quebec; her brother Paul, his wife Michele and their daughters, Brooke and Alanna Servant who loved her dearly. She will be sadly missed by her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mattoon of Chicopee who took Anne into their hearts as their own. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Karen Mattoon of Chicopee. Anne is predeceased by her sister-in-law Kathleen Mattoon with whom she shared a fondness for Disney, two brothers Michael and William Servant, as well as her nephew Mathieu Servant. Anne-Marie had a great many aunts, uncles, and cousins in both Canada and the Southbridge area, as well as many good friends across the country who's lives have been touched by her warmth and will forever miss her. Among these are John and Anne-Marie Teixeira of Rhode Island, as well as Scott and Laurie Berry, also of Rhode Island. They have graciously established a nursing scholarship in Anne-Marie's name at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire where they met. Anne-Marie was graduated from Marianhill Catholic High School, Southbridge, in 1986. She received her B.S. in Nursing from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1990. Anne-Marie started her career in nursing at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge shortly thereafter. After a short time at Harrington, Anne soon started in the Cardiac CCU at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. She spent ten years there until she transferred to the Palliative care unit where she successfully aided countless families in the final transitions of their loved ones. Ann-Marie had a fondness for dolphins and had her dream of swimming with them realized with her friend on with her husband. She also was a Therapeutic Touch practioner, integrating TT into her patient care. Anne-Marie's funeral will be Saturday, May 21, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., Southbridge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St, Southbridge. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, May 20, from 3 - 7 PM. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery in Southbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the Anne-Marie Servant Mattoon Scholarship Fund, St. Anselm College, 100 St. Anselm Drive, Box 1738, Manchester, NH 03102-1310, ATTN: College Advancement. It was such a pleasure to have known and worked with Anne-Marie on CB4, Palliative Care Unit at Hartford Hospital. You could tell from the moment you met her, that she was a kind and loving person. Her personal battle with cancer made her even more determined that her patients would get the very best care and that their last days be as comfortable as possible. Anne-Marie, I am so glad your dreams came true with Kevin, as you always spoke of him, and I want you to know that your memory will always be with me.

Anne-Marie and I attended class together at St. Mary's and later at Marianhill High School. Not only were we schoolmates, but we were friends. I will always remember her as a wonderful girl who had a beautiful spirit. May she rest in the peace of God’s grace and love.

Anne-Marie was truly a special person who had a heart of gold and was extemely courageous. I am so glad that she had Kevin in her life. He loved and adored her. Just like everyone whose life she had touched. She was one of my best friends since college and I loved her dearly. We will miss her forever. Good-bye and I love you.

Anne-Marie, you will always be remembered for your strong, generous spirit. As you so graciously fought your own battle, you always had more to give to those with their battles...

Kevin, we are so glad she met her "knight in shining armor", you have given her so much more life to her years.

I first met Anne-Marie in Freshman English at St.A's. I sat next to her and said, "Hi, my name's Anne Marie." She laughed and said "so is mine". The rest is history! We became instant friends. I loved her dearly and will miss her forever. Good-bye my friend. Your courageous battle is finally over!

I knew AnneMarie from St A's. She was always so happy even in the midst of exams or a clinical rotation. I had heard she was ill through mutual friends. I know she is at peace and will forever be remembered in many hearts.
