Anne Thérese Mattimore Obituary

Anne Thérese Mattimore, age 82, passed peacefully at Ann Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD on February 25, 2025 following a brave battle with multiple brain bleeds brought on by a recent fall. Anne was born on October 6, 1942 to John and Dorothy Harrington, both deceased.

Anne graduated from The College of Notre Dame in Baltimore, MD and was passionate about education, reading and the pursuit of knowledge throughout her life. She was an avid watcher of Jeopardy and loved the NY Times crossword puzzles, completing them in pen. Anne resonated positivity with her family and extensive network of friends who admired her vitality, her infectious smile, and her energy.

Anne was elegant, smart and fiercely loyal. Her legion of friends knew they could count on her to open her door and heart to them in their time of need. In her later years, Anne participated in smaller groups where she enjoyed game nights and bible study.

Anne was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 60 years, Bill Mattimore. They met in 1963 and were married in 1964. Bill and Anne lived in Mineola, NY, from 1964-1966, moving to Sayville, NY in 1967 and then Bay Shore, NY, in 1972 where they raised their three children. Together, they shared passions that included gardening, golf, tennis and boating, the latter routinely taking them to Fire Island where they spent many summer weekends enjoying the camaraderie at the Kismet Inn.

Anne and Bill moved to Easton, MD, in 2009 where they continued their passion for the outdoors and wildlife, establishing a whole new community of friends.

In addition to her loving husband Bill, Anne is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Mattimore Dwyer, son-in-law Barry Dwyer, son Brendan Mattimore, daughter-in-law Betty Parise Mattimore, daughter Gillian Mattimore DuVall, and son-in-law, Michael DuVall.

As a generous and fun-loving grandmother, Anne leaves a legacy of love to her grandchildren Caitrin Dwyer Gremke and husband Dan Gremke, Victoria Dwyer Ward and husband Brendan Ward, Maggie Dwyer, Grace Mattimore, Caroline Mattimore, Jack Mattimore, Harrison DuVall, Wesley DuVall, Annie DuVall and Henry DuVall.

Anne is also survived by her older brother John Harrington, her sister-in-law Kathleen, and her younger sisters Meg Harrington Tyre and husband Bob Tyre, and Martha Harrington Kennedy and husband Bernie Kennedy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 14, 2025 at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Rd. Annapolis MD. 21409. This will be followed by a luncheon at Eastport Yacht Club (EYC), 317 First Street, Annapolis, MD.

I adored and admired Anne. I value my memories of many interesting conversations we had on various topics: religion, politics, family and especially books as we shared a passion for reading. I miss her beautiful face and her beautiful being.

I did not know Mrs. Mattimore that well, but she raised three wonderful children which I am a fan of and she should be very proud of as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Mattimore and the entire family.

So sad to hear. Anne was a bright, beautiful lady, and a fellow English major at Notre Dame.
Rest in peace, dear Anne.
