Anne Murden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2024.
Anne Charlene Murden, aged 87, passed away on August 16, 2024, in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Born on February 28, 1937, in Helena, Arkansas, Anne's life was marked by her deep love for her family, her faith, and her fondness for the simple joys of life.

Anne graduated from Springhill College, in Mobile, Alabama, where she met and married Bill Dunne, becoming an Army wife. After being stationed at bases in Canada, Newfoundland, Kentucky, Hawaii and Virginia, their marriage ended and Anne moved back to Mobile, finding work as a secretary for the Better Business Bureau. She then met and married Bill Dunsmore and moved to Birmingham, living there for over 20 years. Anne relocated to Gulf Breeze, Florida in May 2024.

Known for her warm and sunny disposition, Anne cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a lifelong affection for cats and horses, and for years volunteered at Alabama Wildlife Center located in Oak Mountain State Park, occasionally fostering baby squirrels. Anne enjoyed celebrating holidays and Mardi Gras. She loved the beach and would spend a couple weeks on the Gulf Coast every summer, where she would invite her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews for family reunions, a tradition that lasted over 20 years. Anne was also a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

She enjoyed attending Mass when she could, and was a devout Catholic. Her faith in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit was absolute.
She managed to pass this spirituality on to her sons, and was an example of God's love, kindness and tolerance. Anne's presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Anne is survived by a loving family: her sons Billy, Jimmy (Emily), and Matt Dunne (Sheryl); her grandchildren Devin, Rebecca, Rory, and Rhianna Dunne; her sister Betty Blanchard; and her brother Ryland Murden (Lenore). They, along with her friends, will miss her dearly.

Memorial services will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama, on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Visitation will take place from 9:30 - 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM. A procession and interment at Mobile Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the service. A reception will be held across the street from Little Flower church after her burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's memory can be made to a local animal shelter/refuge, SPCA, or Little Sisters of the Poor, organizations that were close to her heart. Her kindness and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.

My favorite memory of Grandma Anne was when she fostered three baby squirrels and named them after my siblings and I. (Rebecca, Rory, and Rhianna) She always had such a warm and welcoming heart to all people and animals, and the lives of those she touched were always brightened. She´ll be missed dearly and was deeply loved.
