Anne Prentice Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 1 to Mar. 4, 2023.
June 29, 1939 - February 7, 2023 Colorado Springs, CO - Anne Elizabeth Prentice was born on June 29, 1939, in Hartford City, Indiana. After graduating from Ball State University, Anne moved to California, where she taught middle school English and History. Set up on a blind date by a dear friend, Anne married her husband of forty-one years, Thayer Prentice, after only five months. Together they raised three daughters in the Sacramento, California area. Although Anne's chosen profession was wife and mother, her enthusiasm for teaching continued. Anne tutored children, taught adult literacy, and worked as a substitute teacher. She was a docent for the Crocker Art Gallery and an avid bridge player.

Anne passed away on February 7, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Jim) Brown, Lynne (Marc) Hopper, and Julie (John) Vrattos; grandchildren, Andrew, Kellyann (Jos?), Melanie, Alec, Alena, and Colton; and great-granddaughter, Valentina.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thayer Prentice; parents, Paul and Marie Kriegbaum; sister, Marjory Marlow; and brother, Robert Kriegbaum.

What I remember most about my dear friend, Anne, was her generous spirit. We did so much together. We joined 4-H ( neither one of knew what we were doing), we played hours and hours of bridge ( she taught me how) , we went on many adventures in new places ( both of us being directionally challenged we referred to each other as Ethel and Lucy!) and many times just sat quietly and talked or watched a movie together. During fishing trips with our guys, we would sit in our beach chairs, read and chat. It was comforting to know that she was a phone call away. A kinder more thoughtful person you would never meet. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. She will be sorely missed!
