In memory of
Rose Lorenzen
July 3, 2008
Anne Walsh was my Aunt Anne, she was my Mom's sister in law. My brother and sister and I spent many holidays and summer vacations at her home in Elmira and she always made it fun. In recent years I have only seen her once, when my mother passed away. She always had a smile and loved her animals dearly.
My condolences to my cousins, Annemarie and Robert and all of her extended library family in Phoenix. From the entries here, she will surely be missed by all.
God Bless, Rose Lorenzen and family

Dear Bob & AnneMarie,
I was really taken aback by the passing of your mom. She was one of the nicest people I knew. When you were in her home you always felt welcome. She made the best beef stroganoff on the planet. I still have and use that recipe often and always think of her when I do. I haven't seen her in a long time after the move to Phoenix, but in reading the guest book entries she had not changed one bit. She was truly a gift from God. One special lady that surely will be missed but not forgotten.
God bless.

Anne Walsh was my Mom, my best friend and my personal librarian. Her cats Oliver(Mr #1) Felix and Bella will all miss her too,but will come to join my family. Allie(my Bischon) who adorded her, Max and Charley were her favorites and will miss her weekly visits.Working at the library kept her young(she was only 18) and she remembered the patrons and their children that she had watched grow up from getting their 1st library card to going off to college. Many of the books that I have read were recommended by patrons or just came across the counter and she checked them out. She was a special lady with a lot of class. The best way to honor her memory is to keep reading and encourage children to do the same.

Dear Waldo,
I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I never knew her, but she obviously made a very strong impression on those who did. May she be serenaded by your beautiful organ music for eternity. God Bless.

I worked with Anne at Acacia Library long ago. I loved talking about animals with her. I always admired how she cared for her diabetic cat. She took it all for granted. I loved her New York accent, and her New York atttitude. I am married to a New Yorker, so it was especially fun to share thoughts with her. When I called from another library, she was always so pleasant and willing to look for the book I was desperately seeking. She was a treasure.

I only knew Anne from her post at the library, but had "visited" with her there for almost 20 years. She was not just a familiar face, but a friendly one, and I loved getting book recommendations from her, and giving her my reviews of books I checked out, and chatting with her about whatever topic was in the air. She always made me laugh by gasping in fake horror if I had a fine on my card. We loved to talk about animals - it was clear that she was an animal lover. She spoke of her family at times, reminding me of my own mother, whom I miss terribly, and talking with her comforted me. I felt like she was someone I had known forever. Perhaps our Brooklyn roots in common contributed to that, but whatever the reason, I will miss her greatly. If I went to the library several times in a row without seeing her, I would worry, and would always ask if it were her day off. Today, I went to the library and saw a patron standing at the checkout desk crying, and I knew right away why she cried, a fact that was confirmed by Anne's co-worker. I am so sorry for your loss. Anne was a special lady, and she will be missed by many.

You will be missed, what a wonderful person to be around. I worked with you only a few times but they were so memorable.

I haven't stopped crying since I heard the news. I, and my family, are truly sorry for your loss. Anne was a ray of sunshine, at the library. I loved recommending books to her, the latest being "Remembering the Bones" by Frances Itani. What I never told her, is that the main character reminded me, of her. Years ago, she told me she wasn't "getting her vacuuming done", because she was so consumed with another book that I had recommended to her. I loved her, she was like a 'grandmother' to me. Rest in peace, Anne, you will be so missed!!

Anne and I worked together at the Acacia Branch Library for several years. She always had a smile for everyone. Although we enjoyed shopping for bargins at the nearby shopping center and often compared
our results, we rarely were able to be gone together from the library to shop. She loved her animals. We will all miss her friendly welcomes and good service.

I had the pleasure of working with Anne for 10 1/2 years at the Acacia Branch Library. She was a wonderful co-worker and friend. I already miss her so much. She was always there with an understanding heart and a bit of advice when needed. I will miss the laughs we shared and the stories of Oliver, her favorite cat. I had such a great time with her at the Barbara Streisand and Andre Rieu concerts. I will cherish those memories forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you Annemarie and your brother also. Your mom was an inspiration and so special to us all.
