Annegrete Koch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 29 to Jul. 30, 2010.
KOCH, Annegrete (nee Heisler) Has passed away after a long and brave struggle with cancer. Death came early on July 26th, 2010 at the Ottawa General Hospital. She was born May 23rd, 1942 in Neukirchen, Germany. Deeply rooted in the culture of her homeland, she embarked on a lifelong passionate pursuit of literary learning, serving as director of Ottawa's German Language School and as a board member. Pursuing her doctoral thesis, and a language teacher to the end, she also found the time to relax at her beloved Lac St. Charles. A church service will be held at German Martin Luther Church, 499 Preston Street, at 11:00 am, Friday, July 30th, 2010. Her friends are welcome at an informal memorial gathering at the family residence, 45 Hereford Place, at 3 pm, Friday, July 30th.

Annegrete and I have been friends since attending Carleton University together. It has been such a joy to know her, share books with her, go on long walks or ski trails, visit exhibitions, participate in her family life. In all she was supremely generous, gracious and loving. She was the dearest of friends and I miss her immeasurably.
To Bernd, Peter, Christopher and Frederick I extend my heartfelt sympathy.
With love

Dear family, Koch,

For many years, I had the pleasure of working with Annegrete. I will always remember her for her kindness, gentleness and friendliness, and the exceptional level of profesisonalism she always displayed. I rememmber her telling me how much she enjoyed learning new things, and how happy it made her to live in her son's proximity and be able to marvel in her her delightful grandchildren.
Sympathising deeply with your loss, I hope that time brings you solace, and once your grief lessens may your hearts be aglow with loving memories of Annegrete.

Sincerely,
Jana Vasilj-Begovic

An Annegrete denkend ....

"The pine tree lives for a thousand
years,
The morning-glory but for a single day;
Yet both have fulfilled their destiny."

My deepest and most sincere condolences to all the Koch family. As you know Annegrete and I first met when she came to Ottawa to visit her uncle, the then German Military Attache, in around 1964. He and I both owned parrots, and that was why-how your mother and the Robertsons first met! We didn't see all that much of each other recently, except at the annual Hereford carol singing, but I'll miss her.
All my best,
Ron

Dear Koch family!

Please, accept our deepest sympathies.

Words cannot express our sadness and grief for loosing dear Annegrete. We are still in shock, especially that just couple of weeks ago Annegrete was here at school. Only the heart knows the depth of the feelings surrounding all people that had an honour to know her and be around her even for a moment.

All of us had the greatest respect for dear Annegrete and will miss working with her, her generous nature, her remarkable passion for teaching and her love for everything she did.

We have inserted one picture from our classroom at the Institute and hope her smile will somehow bring back good memories. We believe there are only good memories when thinking of dear Annegrete.
