Anneliese Nader

Anneliese Ruth Nader (née Naumann), age 97, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Integrated Pallaitive & Hospice Care in Libertyville, Illinois.

Born on November 30, 1927 in Zoerbig, Germany to Franz and Martha Naumann. She married Ralph Nader on March 2, 1949, in Badnauheim, Germany while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They later settled in Lake Villa, Illinois, where Anneliese embraced her new life while maintaining a deep connection to her German roots. She learned to drive, speak & write English, although her speech and writing were sometimes a combination of German and English that we had to decipher.

After Ralph's retirement from ComEd in 1984, they fulfilled a shared dream by building a log home in Westfield, Wisconsin. There, Anneliese found joy in gardening and preparing meals that reflected both her heritage and her adopted country. Her cheesecake became a cherished family favorite. She also loved snowmobiling in Illinois & Wisconsin with Ralph, family & friends. She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, finding out all the things that they were doing. She also enjoyed going to Oktoberfest in Lake Villa.

Anneliese was a member of the Lake Villa VFW Post 4308 Auxiliary, where she dedicated herself to supporting veterans and their families.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Linda (the late Lloyd) Eisele, Michael (Judy) Nader, and Debra (Dan Duncan) Nader; her grandchildren: Brian (Carolyn) Eisele, Scott (Agata) Eisele, Robert (Amy) Nader, David (Kristy) Nader, and Derek (Aleen) Nader; and her great-grandchildren: Claire Eisele, Mia Eisele, Lilly Eisele, Olivia Eisele, Nathan Nader, Kassidy Nader, Jorja Nader and Danielle Nader, other family members and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Nader; her parents, three brothers and one sister in Germany.

In accordance with Anneliese's wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured with love and care. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
