Annette Coleman... Talk about Vibrant! I love to remember lunchtime in the 1st floor Conference Room and her gusto downing her sandwhich, enjoying conversation and throwing her head back in laughter. John would be in on it often too.
What I want to add to her obituary is that she was so very empathic and understanding as a mentor, going the extra mile to care for this graduate student of hers' emotional well-being. Her love of music stands out for me - As she walked the halls of J.W.Wilson labs 4th floor, she would whistle the same tune. I wanted to know what it was before I left Brown and whistled it for her. She thought it was the Mozart Clarinet Concerto (it wasn't) and gave an LP of that to me as a graduation gift. She loved Bach and I believe the piano in her and John's home was for her. And John! - another beloved and inspiring Bio professor with a generous heart.
