Annette Waters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 28, 2025.
Annette Waters, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on October 24, 1933, in Strong City, Oklahoma, Annette lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering support for those she loved.

Annette pursued her calling in nursing with determination and excellence. She began her medical journey as a Registered Nurse at Oklahoma University before earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from St. Louis University and Washington University. Her career began at Jane Phillips Memorial Hospital, where she served as an ICU nurse and later rose to the position of Director of Nursing. Her leadership and commitment to patient care culminated in her role as Vice President of Patient Care at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois-a testament to her lifelong devotion to healthcare and service.

After retiring from nursing, Annette embraced new passions with the same vigor she brought to her professional life. She became an avid gardener at her home in Tulsa, cultivating beauty and peace in her surroundings. Her adventurous spirit led her to take up backpacking, exploring the natural wonders of Yellowstone, Glacier National Parks, among others. In her later years, she found joy on the golf course as a devoted observer alongside her eldest son.

Annette's greatest legacy lies within her family. She is survived by her three sons-David, Paul (Christine), and Kelley-and her granddaughter Cassandra (Tyler) from Paul.. She was a constant presence in their lives: a sounding board for David; a guiding hand who helped raise Cassie during her early years for Paul; and a best friend and hiking partner to Kelley. Her love was steadfast and unconditional-a safe haven throughout their lives.

She now joins those who preceded her in passing: her husband Glen; her parents Roy and Rovena; her brother Lee Roy; and sister Janet.

A private graveside service will be held on May 17, 2025, at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery located at 1900 N Road in Sayre, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art at https://my.gilcrease.org/donate/i/annualfund

Annette's strength, warmth, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those whose lives she touched.
