I first met my Auntie Annie when I was 5 on my first trip to Scotland. That was in 1953 when my mom, Peggy and my Auntie Teda traveled by train to New York and sailed the Queen Elizabeth home with me, Maryann and my brother Lourie and cousin Tom. We arrived in Glasgow when Penilee was still on rations from WWII. Auntie Annie was a force to be addressed in that household of 8 adults and 3 weans. She went by the big Scottish cruncher in those days in response to who shared a bed with her. That was me, wee Ackie. Her poem in my autograph book says it all. "We Ackie is braw and her cousins are naw, but the big Scottish cruncher´s the best of them aw!" She was a strong women like her sisters and set the bar for all the women in the family to come after. She will be sorely missed.

What a lovely tribute to Annie. I´m certain there were many fond memories throughout the decades.
Though we never met Annie in person, we are very fortunate that you have shared such incredible and heartfelt stories of the wonderful woman she was and will be remembered as such.
Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this transition. Reflect on all the great times you had all shared.
Love,
Dan and Michael

Annie was a best friend to Ellen Brady who lived in Glasgow. They met at secondary school- Our Lady and Saint Francis High School in Glasgow. Both then went on to Notre Dame College and both became teachers of the highest calibre. Both ladies enjoyed an incredible career and enjoyed an outstanding reputation throughout the teaching fraternity.
Both Annie and Ellen had a unique bond that lasted a lifetime. Both husbands- Gene Farrell and Jim Brady enjoyed a very unique friendship too and created so many wonderful memories together. Annie and Ellen´s friendship was very special and based on love and respect. These two friends laughed like no others and found such joy and loyalty to each other that would never be surpassed.
Annie´s three daughters -Cassie Jennifer and Julie and their families carried on that special friendship with Ellen´s daughter- Mary Margaret and her husband Paul and son Marcus in Glasgow. Those very very special friendships continue to this day and both families enjoy a deep and lasting bond.
Annie was an incredible woman; a trailblazer who lead a life filled with love. She inspired us all, showed us all how to be brave and strong and how to be successful and live a life filled with laughter and joy.
Quite simply Annie Farrell was a legend and our hearts are shattered without her. We are so sad she died but so glad she lived.
