Annie Lomax Obituary
LOMAX, Mrs. Annie Ruth-age 89, of Grand Blanc, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at her residence. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at RiverRest Cemetery, Flint, MI. Calling hours are 1:00pm - 6:00pm Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Annie Ruth Lomax was born February 15, 1931 in Shady Grove, Alabama, the daughter of Jim Petty and Ruth (Tucker) Petty.
She resided in Grand Blanc, Michigan and was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Annie Ruth graduated from Helicon High School in Helicon, Alabama. She was employed by the United States Postal Service and retired in 1988 after many years of service. She loved to cook, sew, can and freeze fresh vegetables and fruits from her husband’s garden.
Mrs. Annie Ruth Lomax leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of 67 years, Willie Lomax of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 children, Sheila Lomax of Grand Blanc, MI, Phyllis Lomax-Patterson of Flint, MI, and Marcus Lomax of Grand Blanc, MI; 2 stepchildren, Charles (Jessie) Lomax and Betty Rhodes both of Birmingham, AL; 11 grandchildren, Tracey Lomax, Sherrell (Devin) Gomillia, Zaneta Chuniq Inpower, Sasha Patterson, Nekia and Nicole McGee, Rhonda (Mario) Lumzy, Terrell Lomax, Tyrone (Nicole) Lomax, Britney and Crystal Lomax; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother, George “Pete” Petty of Gallipolis, OH; aunt, Kathryn Bell of Newton Falls, OH; sisters-in-law, Vivian Petty Dunlap of Grand Blanc, MI, Ida Harris, Rose Lomax, and Lorraine Anderson all of St. Louis, MO; several friends including Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Nichols, Beatrice Jones, Corrine Walker, the Morgan, Fields, Adams, Whitmore and Nichols families.
She was preceded in death by: daughter, Deborah Ann McGee; father, Jim Petty; mother, Ruth Tucker-Petty; sisters, Elizabeth Hall, Juanita Calhoun, Mary Ruth Miller; and brother, James Petty.
The family would like to express special thanks to: Alternative Elderly Care, LLC and caregivers, Jordyn Symons, Keonna, Taylor Mosley, Dr. Ann Burton and The Medical Team Hospice.
