Annie Moss Obituary

Published by The Index-Journal on Mar. 4, 2015.
Annie Lee Moss WILLINGTON -- Annie Lee Moss, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, was born to the late Arnold Moss (Ida Moss) Late Mamie Lue Gary on July 2, 1945 in McCormick, S.C. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eddie Moss, Arnold Jr. Moss; and one grandson, Cameron Dylan Moss. Annie Lee joined the Springfield Green Olive Church at an early age, where she continued to serve until her departure. She attended McCormick School System, in South Carolina. Annie, as she was known to her many friends and family, worked tirelessly in the Burlington Textile Mills until her health declined. Annie lived and breathed for her children, whom she loved dearly. Her compassionate and kind nature, willingness to share, her warm smile, and her loving personality made her well loved and respected by all those who came in contact with her. Sister Moss was called home Feb. 28, 2015 at 1 p.m., at Abbeville Area Medical Center. Annie Lee was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, but most of all a friend to all who knew her. She was an excellent cook who always had her door open on Sundays and holidays for her famous mac-n-cheese, collard greens and sweet potato pies. She will be missed by all those who loved and knew her. Basking in the delightful essences of Annie Lee are her loving children: Jefferson A. Moss, Calhoun Falls, Jeannette (Larry) Cunningham, Greenville, SC, Jessie Mae Moss, Willington, SC, Jerry L. (Wanda) Moss, Charlotte, NC, Jamel Moss, Greenwood, SC; three sisters, Viola Turman, Lorena J. Turman and Bertha Moss, all of Willington, SC; brother, James Curtis Moss, Greenwood, SC; raised in the home by their grandmother: James Moss, Jarvis Adams and Jerekia Moss; nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces and friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral services are Thursday at 1 p.m. at Holy Rock Reformed Episcopal Church in Willington, the Rev. Quincy Baylor and Rev. Clifford Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Springfield-Green Olive Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be at Walker Funeral Home from Noon Wednesday until the remains are placed in Holy Rock Reformed Episcopal Church at noon Thursday to await the service hour. The family is at her home in the Willington Section of McCormick, SC. Services entrusted to Walker Funeral Home.
