I am crushed to learn of Anoosh's passing; my friend.
We worked together in '85 at Hackberry Creek Country Club where he was Sous Chef.
I still tell stories about his passion and humor. Once, I saw a flash of righteous anger. He was a force of nature, and for good. Ever a teacher, he inspired everyone around him, always.
...his jokes too, always the best
To honor his memory and legacy, I'll try to be more like him.
I'll always be a fan of Anoosh Shariatmadari.

Tim Quinn- Anoosh and I became friends 34 years ago at a place called Remington`s restaurant. He struck me right away with his talent and easy-going personality. He was quite simply a wonderful human being. We had many memorable days and nights together. But one still sticks out. We were doing a dinner for a special corporate event, and somehow Anoush was able to procure a whole sturgeon, about 5 feet long.
and then he rented a special oven to roast it in! It looked like something out of a movie when we presented it to the group!
And all he wanted to do was give credit to everyone else. I will miss him dearly as will Many many others because he touched so many with his generosity and grace.

My Dad took me to Shariat´s for my 18th birthday! He came to our table and was such a gracious and charming host. My parents were friendly acquaintances with Anoosh over the years, adored his food and admired him as a man. They would have been deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I remember the first time I worked with Anoosh. It was Valentines Day 2000. I worked with him off and on, from the Shariat Restaurant days, through Park Place on Main. That's when I meet his love Paula. He and I shared the ups and downs of life throughout the years. He was my friend, a mentor, a loving and caring man. I have so many wonderful memories of working Derbys, the Thunder over Louisville, the Valentines Days, the New Year's Eves, and all the other days. God's speed my dear friend. I will miss you.

Anoosh was a mentor to my daughter when she was in college that's how we met. We would sit at the bar at Shariat's restaurant every Friday and talk with Anoosh. We talked about life and ate well. It was the beginning of a great friendship. We will miss him.

Anoosh took our six year old grandson back in the kitchen at Shariat´s many years ago. He showed him how the kitchen operated and made a tremendous impression on him. He is now 31 and is a fabulous cook. None of us will ever forget his kindness and his sincere interest in everyone he spoke with. Every time our grandson came back to Louisville we made reservations at Anoosh Bistro one evening and Noosh Nosh for lunch! We celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries there as well. Paula was always by his side. Our sincere condolences to Paula and his family. He will be missed by many!

When my mother, Suzanne Marshall, was fighting cancer Anoosh and Paula delivered meals to her hospital room. That made her day every time that it happened. With everything he had going on to still take the time to care for others tells you so much about the man he was. You will always be remembered as a generous man who was also a great chef.

I was introduced to Anoosh and his wonderful food 12 years ago when I married my husband Guru and moved to Louisville. Liz Carter, my husband´s friend at that time, planned a surprise party to welcome me to Louisville with a few of Guru´s friends.
I met Anoosh at that party and he made the most amazing, flavorful food for us. His passion for cooking, his knowledge of spices and flavors, inventing new ways to cook a dish, all showed me that he truly loved his craft and that he was a fabulous chef.
I had the pleasure of inviting Paula and Anoosh once for dinner many years ago. I made some rice dishes ( Indian Vegetarian) and he loved them. Anoosh confessed that he had eaten something at home before he started as he wasn´t sure about my cooking skills. When he tried my food, he truly loved it and enjoyed the meal.
Anoosh and Paula are wonderful people and I am glad I can call them my friends. We will all really miss Anoosh but I know his spirit feels the love from everyone. His spirit is blessed and he is receiving all the love from all of us. Thank you Anoosh for being such a good friend. We love you and we will miss you so much!! Rest in Peace my friend. Until we meet again.
Paula- sending you my love!! We will definitely stay in touch. Will message you when I get back to Louisville.

We celebrated a birthday at Anoosh Bistro and had the most delightful dinner with our family and sister who was visiting. My mother was at the end of the table in her wheelchair and Anoosh came over and gave her some sweet attention as he checked on how we were all doing. He was a magnificent man! We just saw Paula and Anoosh at the Farmers market not long ago and they were enjoying the wonderful simple pleasures picking out tomatoes and good farm grown food! So many will miss him and my prayers go out to Paula, his loving family and friends who loved and cared so deeply for him! He was a special person!

I remember the first time I met him as I worked at Norton's institute downtown and he came in to get his blood drawn.... I said with that last name you must have a Persian background and I greated him in farsi. He looked at me like how does a Caucasian guy know farsi. He was a good man and it was great to get the chance to spend time with him. He will be missed.

My husband and I shared our first Valentine's Day together at Shariat's long ago. I was 24. It was the first time a chef came to greet us at our table. From that moment, I was hooked. We followed Anoosh from each restaurant to the next. By the time Anoosh's Bistro closed I felt we had a friend. It was our go-to bar at least once a month, just to chat with Anoosh and his lovely Danielle. I will forever remember his hug as he came out to talk to us, each and every time we visited.

As a up and coming chocolate artist participating in the charity event "Chocolate Dreams", he stopped by my booth and spoke to me briefly while admiring my bite size works of art. He inspired me, he encouraged me, I will never forget that day. Rest easy Anoosh, you were a treasure here on earth.

Dear family: Wendy and I share in your grief and gratitude that Anoosh´s pain has ended and his spiritual life has begun. In the Forty-five years I´ve known him, Anoosh was the most humble person for the brilliance he possessed. We will miss and remember him forever.
