Tony had Edit have been my next-door neighbours for 26 years. He was the kindest person one could imagine. Our street has a hole in its heart now.

I had the pleasure of being taught by Tony. He had such a way of thinking. He always made statistics, sampling or any topic elegantly clear.
My Dad, Harry Smith, thought the world of Tony. On Canada Day 150 it is great to reflect on what our pioneers achieved.
My thoughts go out to Tony's immediate family. You will surely miss his even keel, intellect and good humour.

Tony was always willing to help students with their statistics. Regardless of how elementary their questions were, Tony was always kind.
