Anthonius Aloysius "Tony" Lapre

LAPRE Anthonius "Tony" Aloysius Born April 26, 1938 in Wlingi, Indonesia It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthonius "Tony" Aloysius Lapre. He died December 6, 2008 at age 70 after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. He is survived by Georgine, his loving wife of 47 years, children Stephen (Michelyne), Cynthia (George), Fletcher, Monique (Jay), grandson Brandon, granddaughters Chelsea and Cassidy. Tony moved to the Netherlands in 1955 from Indonesia where he served as a seaman with the Dutch Merchant Marines. Later he proudly served in the Dutch Military as an elite commando. In 1960 he met and married Georgine and had 3 children. In 1964 the family immigrated to Canada, eventually settling in the Vancouver area. They added one more child in 1969. Until his retirement in 2003 he worked as a welder and fitter namely with Canadian Kenworth Ltd. in Burnaby, Burrard Shipyards Ltd. in North Vancouver and Vito Shipyards Ltd. in Delta. He worked hard and selflessly to give his family the good life they deserved. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a Funeral Service on Friday, December 19 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers donations to the Salvation Army or the charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
