Not sure what to say?

Indy, my first dog, and first one who met Dr Basher.

I met Dr Basher about 20 years ago at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley. My very first dog, a beagle mix, had developed a cherry eye and required surgery. I didn't even know a doggie ophthalmologist was a thing, never mind where to find one! Over time, Dr Basher did a total of 3 cherry eye surgeries for my dogs. They all absolutely loved him, and he was great with this frantic mom too. I'm so sad to hear of his passing.

I will never forget Dr. Basher and what he did to help my dear kitty. He was a very knowledgeable man with a very big heart. He was an angel walking among us.

I remember seeing Dr Basher in better times at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital during meetings held for local veterinarians.
He was leaning against the wall, at the back of a big lecture room, waiting his turn to speak, looking like a bass player from a rock band.
Lots of us vets were impressed he was double board certified.
To have his daughter die, then his passing, in a 6 month period in 2012, must have been very, very tough for his ex-wife.
I like to remember his cool accent, his long hair, and those good times when life was better for him and his family.

what I thought was a terrible day- finding out Daisy would be blind and it was just a case of how soon- ended up being her lucky day after all because she had Dr Basher for her Vet. That was nearly 7 years ago. She lost her sight within 6 weeks of our appointment but he saved her eyes. Daisy trusted him from the beginning and so did I. Every time I see the Chase bank commercial with the lion in it I think of him. What a wonderful story. Dr. Basher is greatly missed .

My family and I have known Dr. Basher for over 10 years. He saved the eyesight and life of our cat, BabyCat and dog, Heidi, for which I am truly grateful. His compassion and knowledge were amazing. He was a wonderful person and the very best in his field. We were truly blessed to have had our dear pets under his care. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kim and the family.

Tiny Basher was an amazing man and friend. He treated my Akita and then later my Cocker for blindness, surgery to remove eyes in both. His kindness will never be forgotten.
Dogs in San Diego will never have someone like him ever. He is irreplaceable. Lady and I are sad.

I will always be grateful for his skills which gave my kitten upper eyelids. This is a huge loss for his family, friends, and the entire animal community. I hope his soul finds peace and is surrounded in light by all the animals he has helped over the years.

He will be very missed in the vet community. He did such a great job of treating my cat fourteen years ago that when my bunny recently need to see a eye vet he was the only vet I thought of. RIP Dr. B.

My sincerest condolences to Dr Basher's family for this devastating loss. Being an ex-pat myself we had some talks about the "old country" but most of all Dr Basher was the most caring veterinarian I have ever met. He was so kind to us and our precious Sarah who hopefully is with him now. He always respected our love for Sarah and kept us fully aware of everything going on with her, regardless of how many emergencies we had. I am at a loss myself that he is no longer with us but I am certainly glad I got to know him even just a little. He was an incredible man and our world has suffered a huge loss.

Having just left the memorial service for Dr Basher we truly feel like we have lost a secret friend. When our 12 year old Maggie was diagnosed with diabetes it was quickly followed by cataracts. Our vet suggested we take her to dr Basher who recommended surgery which turned out perfectly and gave Maggie six more years of sight until her passing at 18. We of course got two more Westies and lo and behold our two year old Isabella was diagnosed by our vet with non producing tear ducts. It became clear we needed a visit to Dr Basher as nothing was working and our baby was in pain. He shuffled into the exam room and within minutes came up with the right compound and treatment. Both of our girls were always so soothed when in his presence. I think they felt he was one of them. We were so upset when we heard he left the specialty hospital and devastate to hear of his passing. When I get calls from the specialty hospital it still comes up Tony Basher. So it shall stay!!

Dr Basher saved our dog, Remington's, eye sight. The world has lost an amazing veterinarian, a special person who cared a great deal for the world's animals and showed compassion and caring. The world is a lesser place without him. We will always remember him with great affection and gratefulness.

What a great loss to the Veterinary community, and to the world in general! Dr Basher treated three of my dogs over the years, with incredible skill, patience and humor.
I am so saddened by his passing. We were so fortunate to have him here in San Diego for awhile. Such a kind man...

Our condolences go to the Basher family with regard to the two untimely passings in the family. My husband and I had the greatest respect and awe for Dr. Basher's expertise. He performed surgery on our beloved Tonkinese cat, Raji, when he came down with a very rare eye disease. We went to several vets in Vista, where we live, who told us that the ONLY person who could take care of this problem was Dr. Basher. They all spoke of him with such reverence and awe. They also added that he was British, like my husband. So, off to Rancho Santa Fe we trundled with a screaming cat to see this Dr. Basher who was so revered. Expecting someone who looked like Alastair Cook, lo and behold, we encounter Dr. Basher for the first time. He looked like a rock star who should have been in Led Zeppelin! Nevertheless, we he performed the surgery on our treasured cat and the results were PERFECT. After seeing him several times after the post-op, I tried to question him in depth about how did he come about to specialize in animal eyes but he seemed really shy talking about himself. I said to my husband, "That's it!!! In my next life, I am going to be just like Dr. Basher. I would like to hear my name spoken with such reverence by everyone." The Animal Kingdom has truly lost a treasure and I hope he is taking care of our friends who cannot speak for themselves in the great beyond. We will always remember him with great affection.

I had the great fortune to be a colleague of Tony as a veterinary ophthalmologist. He was a wonderful man and very well respected in the profession. I will miss him.

Dearest Kim,
Pat and I are so deeply saddened upon hearing of the passing of Dr. Basher. It was with unspeakable sorrow that we only recently learned of the death of your beautiful daughter, Ciannon. Pat and I both met Ciannon on several occasions at our home with you. We remember her bright smile and loving nature.
We have been honored over the years to have you as our home vet, and with your referral, received the most fabulous of care for two of our pets from Dr. Tony Basher. We both so appreciated Dr. Basher's kindness, professionalism and most of all, his ability to restore sight to our precious lab, Katie. He always took the time to explain things to us..in language we could understand. We never felt rushed or that we were taking up too much of his time. We felt close to him as he touched our lives in such a personal and profound way. We are quite saddened to hear of his passing.
Our hearts go out to you in this time of grief and sorrow. We are very sorry for your loss and offer to you our deepest, heartfelt sympathy.
Love, Barbara & Pat Kruer, Rancho Santa Fe

I had the good fortune to be referred to Dr. Basher who treated my pomeranian Lucy for eye problems over the course of 2 years. He was kind, caring, professional, knowledgeable and a godsend to all animals he treated. I am saddened to learn of his death and pray he is at peace. He will truly be missed by everyone whose life he touched, both human and animal. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

He was truly an incredible & giving man. He performed cherry eye surgery on my Cocker Spaniel Amy's right eye. She was a year old. He was so caring & spent so much time with us to make us comfortable with the surgery. We had lost a dog previously during a surgery. Just November 2nd, when she needed surgery on her other eye I e-mailed him & he sent me to his friend Dr. Ruben Meredith. We had just lost one of our other dogs 2 weeks prior & he knew we don't trust just anyone with our dogs. Dr. Meredith just did her surgery today & let us know about the tradgedy. He will be greatly missed.
