Father Tony helped save
my life when I was in the 6th grade(84-85) at St Pat's. I was a broken kid from a broken home experiencing a broken life. Father Tony was the only person I knew, who could see me and reach me. He allowed me to be me and taught me how to find God and His messages for me, within myself. Father Tony was and angel incarnate. Thank you Father Tony for your service.

I can't believe it's been almost a year since Fr. Tony's death. We still think about him everyday. Nothing is the same. We miss his big personality. We know he is with us and we'll see him again some day. I'm sure he's having the time of his life in heaven!

Dear Pam (Armstrong,
Please accept my sincere condolences
to your whole family. It has been years, but I haven't forgotten you or the fact that
Father Tony is your brother. I am unable to
be there for the funeral, but I know it will be well attended and beautiful at the Cathedral. I hope you are in good health,
and will be consoled by the coming of the Christ Child and His loving Mother Mary, Our Lady of Consolation. May Father Tony enjoy the most glorious Christmas ever with the choirs of Angels and all the hosts of Heaven. -your friend always,
in the love of the
Holy Family,

I love Tony and was always delighted to see him when I got to home town Toledo from Niagara Falls. I have known him from Toledo Diocese, of course, where I spent the first 27 years of my priesthood, and as Oblate of St Francis de Sales, I preached a parish mission for him while he was pastor of St. John' s in Point Place. We visited after mass at St Pat's just a few weeks ago when I was in town. To all his family and friends: may you always be truly blest by the memory of this wonderful human being.

My deepest sympathy, of course. The last I heard from Fr. Tony was his sermon about how you don't have to like people, but can love them. (Regarding his time with a death row inmate). The man was just so friendly. I felt his strong presence and believe he looked at everyone as a child of God.

RIP Father Tony. The School and Church don't feel the same without you. Almost expected to see him out greeting the kids on Monday morning.
"We find ourselves by giving ourselves away. Your life is a gift and the gift only has value if you give it away. Don't keep the gift to yourself." Father Tony defintely gave of himself.

Father Tony and I were classmates in the seminary and on the day of priestly ordination. His passing has left a significant void among the priests of the Catholic Diocese of Toledo. I shall always treasure our conversations, hopes and dreams in serving the people of God. God give him rest for laboring in the Lord's vineyard.

December 20, 2018

His spirit was contagious and enjoyable. My hope is that those that knew and loved him, " Let the spirit of Fr. Tony" be with you and carry on in your/our day to day lives.

No other person has meant as much as Fr. Tony has meant to St Patricks. From his first stop at St Pats, during my grade school days until now, Fr. Tony had an everlasting impact on me and my family. You will be forever missed.

Some of my fondest memories are from being part of the youth group at St. Pat's. Fr. Tony was an integral part of our group even prior to being assigned to St. Pat's. God Bless you and your family.

Father Tony, my family decided to attend St. John the Baptist Parish and School in 2014. You were a large part of our decision. I have never met a man with as much tolerance and appreciation for people that do no meet the standards of "the norm" in this day and age. Thank you again.

Trying to imagine what Tony's homecoming in heaven was like ... lots of high five's and hugs and happy tears?! He touched so many lives here and I'll bet there were just as many on the other side waiting for him with open arms. "Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him."

Words can't even express what a wonderful person and priest this man was. I met Father Tony when my son went to school in 2nd grade at St Joe's in Galion. We weren't catholic and he just took my son under his wing and made him feel such a part of everything. He made such an impact on our lives and especially my sons. When my son passed away 4 years ago, Fr. Tony was one of the first people I called. He always knew what to say. The world has lost a great person but heaven has definitely gained an angel!

RIP to our most loving Pied Piper The love the children had for you when you first came to St. Pat's after the seminary will never leave their memory. I am so greatful you were in our lives and in our hearts. An old friend said, I'm sure he is mixing things up in heaven. Thanks for being a REAL kind of guy...that's what we loved, if only....you fill in the blankā¤ Love, The Terry Fitzgerald Clan

We are not catholic, however, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren are members of SPH. It was indeed a priviledge to know Fr Tony and see him interact with the children! To address and high 5 each child both before and after school each day was something that they will never forget! There will be big shoes to fill, however, time helps to heal all wounds! What a great reunion it will be when we meet up with him again in Heaven and hear him cheering for the kids to get over that finish line....as was his example!

I first met Fr. Tony when I was in the second grade at St Joe's in galion. I wasn't Catholic but he made me want to be. Years later I moved to toledo and started a family with my husband. In 2015 Fr Tony brought us into the church. My family loved him right away. We went to lunch with him awhile back and the waitress warned my kids that the plates were hot. Fr Tony made the waitress take the plates back and bring back cold ones. No one else would have ever thought to do something like that! He made a lasting impression on my family. We will be mourning for a long time. The church is going to feel empty. I honestly don't know how we will go on without him in our lives. My three year old daughter will especially miss running into his arms every chance she gets. We're praying for everyone. I'm so so sorry.
