Anthony R. Calabrese

Anthony R. Calabrese Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Anthony (Tony) Richard Calabrese peacefully passed away on August 6, 2021 at the age of 78 in the company of his devoted family. Born in Brooklyn, and raised in West Hempstead, Tony served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class from 1961-1967. His early career as a jeweler was followed by a career as an insurance broker focusing on families and children with special needs. A child at heart, Tony volunteered with several organizations over the years as a basketball coach and life coach to many local youths. Additionally, he served on the Board of Stella Orton, Richmond Home Health Care and Elmwood Park III. A big sports fan, Tony loved horses and was a New York fan through and through - never turning away from his beloved New York Yankees and New York Rangers. Tony loved to travel, with Nashville being his favorite city of all - always listening to country music and wearing his signature cowboy hat and boots. Tony is survived by his wife of 11 years, Susan (Montesani-Calabrese); father of Judith Cibants (Steven), Gina Calabrese-Orosz (Frank), and Justin Calabrese (Kerry Bopp), Nicole Montesani and Dean Montesani (Stephanie); and grandfather of Jasmine, Kennedy, Jamie, Christian, Jack Julian and James. Tony enjoyed his life to its fullest and made friends wherever he went. He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. A "Celebration of Anthony's Life" will be held at the Martin Hughes Funeral Home Tuesday 7-9 pm and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday 9:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church. Committal will follow at the Moravian Cemetery.
