Anthony Venanzio "Vinnie" D'Angelo, 91 of Rocky Hill, loving and devoted husband of Lina (Quattrocchi) D'Angelo for 63 years, died peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital comforted by his family. He was born November 6, 1926 in Pratola Peligna, Province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of Italy and was the son of the late Franco and Giovanna (DiCioccio) D'Angelo. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific (Okinawa, Saipan and Tinian). He owned Vinnie's Auto Parts for many years servicing automotive businesses in the Greater Hartford area. More recently, he greatly enjoyed his position at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. He was a charter member of UNICO National and a member of the Elks. In addition, he served as Chairman of Planning and Zoning in Rocky Hill for many years. He is survived by his wife Lina, and his four children, Francis D'Angelo and wife Joyce of Cromwell, Patricia Sutton and husband Richard of Rocky Hill, Jean Haslam and husband Bruce of Rocky Hill, Elaine D'Angelo and Thomas Klecha of Cromwell, 13 grandchildren: Lisa Torneo and Patrick, Laura Aylward and Keith, Michele D'Angelo, Jill Lazzaro and Anthony, Michael D'Angelo and Fylliccia, Jeffrey Sutton and Jessica, James Sutton and Eva, Daniel Haslam and Katharine, Thomas Haslam and Karen, Lindsey Merli and Dennis, Brittany Begen and Kelley, Tyler Begen, Tanner Begen, and 26 great-grandchildren: Dillon, Vince, Angelina, and Nico Torneo, Evelyn and Riley Aylward, Anthony Lazzaro, Brady and Korey Sutton, Emily, Declan and Audrina Sutton, Sophia, Grace, Luke, Chloe, Noah, Isabel and Mia Haslam, James, William, Thomas and Mark Haslam, Joshua, Benjamin and Giovanna Merli. He leaves his sister, Julie Murphy Scalzo and husband Joseph, his Godson James Murphy and Goddaughter Denise Roscio, brother-in-law Salvatore Malinguaggio, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Marie Brooks and Carmela Malinguaggio. Vinnie enjoyed winters in Boca Raton, FL and summers in Old Saybrook, CT. He cherished spending time with his family, and most especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared special moments and left many unforgettable memories. He will be best remembered for providing donuts and balloons for many years at the annual Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade. He had a heart of gold and was passionate about living life to the fullest. We are truly heartbroken to say we lost one of the best. He leaves his lifelong friend Sal Amenta with whom he shared many life experiences and was by his side in his final moments. He also leaves many special associates from the TPC and a host of other dear friends and neighbors.

Riposa in Pace, caro Vinnie.
Tuoi Cugini e tutto la nostra famiglia D'Angelo
Rudy, Diana, Anna Maria, Elena, Joe, Tony, Michele, Tracy, Jennifer, Nicola, Christina & Lisa.

Mr D was such an amazing guy. Memories of him are seeing him and Mrs D at Big Y (that's where this pic was taken) or when he had coffee there with my Dad (George) and his other friends. He always had a big smile on his face and had a huge welcoming hug.
Also, down in Old Saybrook at the parades when he had enough coffee and donuts to feed an army.
But my most vivid memory of him is a few years back when I always knew it was him driving on Cromwell Ave, in his gold Mini-Van with a line of traffic behind him. lol It always made me smile and always will.
So glad my Dad had an great friend like him and I was fortunate enough to have known him. He will truly be missed. SO sorry to you all for your loss.
