I still miss him

He completely changed my way of playing the piano, and so completely changed my life. He sought perfection in his art, and achieved it; he placed the composer above his own ego, and so lived for something greater than himself. To me, he remains a beacon, and I will always be thankful for his presence.

To all who knew Anthony,
Sincere sympathy goes out to you all. I know he is reunited with cousin Muriel as I write. They were such a striking couple and are now together for eternity.
Yours most sincerely,

He was a musician's musician, an elegant aristocrat of the piano, and one of the most superb artists it was my privilege to know, and to hear. I'll never forget his premiere performance of the Ligeti Concerto in New York; one is fortunate to experience pianism like that, but a few times in one's life. He was unfailingly kind and encouraging to me when I was young, and I know he was a legend to those lucky enough to be his pupils. The sorrow I feel in his passing is mitigated by the vital joy in his life-affirming recordings (how can Scarlatti ever be played better?). How graced we all were to have Anthony di Bonaventura make our world a more beautiful place.

Even though I only studied with him for a few weeks at Tanglewood he had a profound affect on me as a musician. Condolences to his family and may his spirit live on.

Anthony was a great artist, musician and human being. He was my mentor, teacher and friend. I will miss him very much. The world is a sadder place without him in it.
