Anthony Palandro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2024.
Anthony (Tony) Palandro was born February 20, 1930, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Michael and Mary Palandro. He passed away, at home, in Smithville, NJ on December 18, 2024.

Tony is survived by his brother, Tom Palandro, sister Theresa Gussin, and his childhood sweetheart and wife, Christina (Chris), to whom he was married for 73 years.

Together they had five children. Maryann, who passed away in 2010; Michael and his wife, Donna, Anthony, Kathy and her husband, Joe Losasso, and John and his wife, Gail. Tony and Chris are also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Tony and Chris were inseparable throughout their married life and were adored (not exaggerating) by all their friends. If you ever reminisced with Tony, you know how proud he was of his army service during the Korean War and the stray German Shepherd that adopted him. He spent the majority of his working career as a printer until he retired at age 58.

Sometime after retirement, he and Chris started their "great adventure" in their RV. They loved traveling the country and a few other countries with new friends from the RV community. They were having too much fun to remain landlocked and soon began taking cruises with their new RV friends.

In 1971, Tony's love for the water led the family full-time to Mystic Island, NJ. Over the years, he owned several boats and enjoyed fishing and crabbing in Great Bay or from the floating dock he built in his backyard. Eventually, Tony and Chris settled in Edgewater, Florida, where they likely enjoyed some of their best years. Tony even took up kayaking until a manatee almost flipped his kayak over.

They eventually moved back to Smithville, NJ, closer to their kids, grandkids, and extended family. Tony was a gentle and humble man and, by Palandro standards, reasonably quiet. Oh, except when he got stuck in a slow line. He just couldn't stop himself from talking with perfect strangers. The gentler soul and peacemaker of the family, Tony, will be greatly missed.
