Anthony Praznik Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 11, 2025.
Weymouth - Anthony Praznik of Weymouth, MA died on October 25, 2025. He was 91.

Born in Brockton on October 9, 1934, Tony was the only child of the late Otmar Praznik and Anna (Coffman) Praznik. Raised in Quincy, Tony graduated from Quincy High School in 1952.

Tony met Judy Clark when both were young teens in Quincy. They dated in high school and college, marrying in June 1957. They remained married for 67 years.

Tony attended MIT, earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1956 and a master's degree in nuclear engineering in 1957. His time at MIT left a deep imprint, influencing his professional choices and providing lifelong friendships. He also earned a second master's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1962, attending night classes while working full time.

Tony was an accomplished pianist as a child but he preferred playing baseball. He enjoyed both passions throughout his life, as a pitcher for a company softball team and attending orchestral and opera performances with Judy. He was also a prizewinning competitive bridge player and played with his MIT friends for decades. In retirement, he volunteered as a bridge teacher at local senior centers.

Tony's work was absorbing and gratifying to him. Shortly after graduating he launched a consulting firm, A. Praznik and Associates. Among his projects, he contributed to the development of remotely piloted aircraft systems for the U.S. Army. He built a computer in his basement in the late 1950s and was a voracious reader of scientific and technical periodicals. He loved wildlife, especially shore wildlife, and had affection for such humble creatures as the bunnies, squirrels and seagulls he fed on the deck of his bayfront home. He enjoyed photography and playing with his two dogs.

Tony leaves his wife of 67 years, Judith (Clark) Praznik of Weymouth. No services are planned.
