My Popo tiger has always been a huge part of my life. Even though he is gone i still feel like he is always watching over me. I have no words to describe how much he means to me. When he passed i was only 6, my mom went to visit him cause he was sick. It was the first time my mom missed my birthday, but I knew she had to. When I heard this I cried for many days and now typing this I am crying. I have much more to add but still very little to say. I miss him very much and hope he is in a better place

I will never really know all the lives you have touched and changed. A large part of my success was because of Tony when I was in the DIVARTY with him. A proud man and soldier who you knew had your back no matter what and made sure the soldiers came first. May you rest in Peace to a fellow comrade and an outstanding soldier

CSM Sandoval was such a blessing in my Guard life. My very first day as an Officer I found myself in a tricky spot and didn't handle it well. He eagerly sat down with this little butter bar for some Sr NCO/Jr Officer mentoring, the first of several over the course of 8 years. If you had the privilege of knowing him as a mentor in your life then you know what I mean when I say he became a little voice in my head that would not let me cut corners or back down from a fight if I believed the fight to be right. Thank you for that CSM, I know you're up there somewhere getting everything just right for us all before we get there too. My heart and prayers to you and to your family. God Bless.

Aunt Kathy,
We were so blessed to have Uncle Tony in our lives. I am so thankful for the time we spent together and the memories we made. He was such a wonderful and honorable man, and had great influence over Gage. His funeral was a tremendous reflection and beautiful tribute to his heritage and service to our Country. I'm sure he was very proud. I love you so much and will continue to keep you in my prayers,
Love, Robbie Ann

Kathy,
The meaningful and moving service today indicates how much people love Tony and you. It was a great tribute to one who has served and loved well. One could not have attended without feeling a tender and special connection to Tony and the family he loved.

Kathy,
You know how much Judy and I don't know what to say, this was so unexpected. Just know that if there is anything you need done, just contact me. Being a 'little mean man', I miss my 'big mean man' right now. I apologize for not looking at Tony during the visitation, I couldn't. We had talked, and I told him I didn't want him looking at me that way and he agreed he didn't want to look at me neither. So there. I spent more time with him than any other Soldier in the Military, and Judy and I are truely sorry for your loss. He was a good man. I have lots of stories to remember. We love you and will see you down in West Point. Love and Semper Fi, SGM (Retired) David and Judy Picciandra

To All the Sandovals during this time of great loss, Who knows the number of days we each have have. What is so much of who Tony was is that he lived his days to the fullest, not just for his satisfaction but in service to others. He lived "quality time". As you can tell from the comments from the Soldiers he served with, and even some who weren't even in his unit, he was greatly admired and respected. I personally knew that I could always go to him, counting on his vast experience and knowledge, and get the straight story, the answers. Soldiers become used to losing brothers and sisters in arms through the many unit changes, re-organizations, promotions, and even untimely passing. We miss them, we mourn them, but we NEVER forget them. The Soldier that Tony was will live on in the thousands of other Soldiers that he set an example for during his many years of service. Seek God's peace and comfort and may He show you all His purpose. My deepest condolences.

I have always admired CSM Sandoval. He was in my opinion, the "soldier's soldier". He was down to earth, sometimes hard nosed, but he always got the job done! May God bless you and your family at this time of sorrow.

Tony's prefessionalism, gregarious nature and wisdom made him a beacon in a crowd. Tony's ever beaming smile just added intensity to the already overwhelming beacon. As a newer SOS, I listened to his wisdom developed from his years of experience in taking care of Soldiers and Survivors.

May Tony rest in peace and may the Sandoval family find comfort in knowing your love and support created a magnificent person.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. I have had the pleasure of knowing CSM Sandoval the last 3 years I worked with the ID section at Camp Mabry. I enjoyed his company and his wonderful smile and bear like "Good morning!" when I passed by his office each day. My last meeting with him was this past year at a Yellow Ribbon event in Dallas Tx. He came right up to me with that same big smile and his new bushy mustache he had grown out since he retired, and gave me a big hug. He was a great man and will be dearly missed. He will forever be in my heart.

I had the privilege to serve with CSM Sandoval in Afghanistan. I'll never forget the time he helped a young soldier who was not even in our task force - didn't matter - the young troop needed help and CSM Sandoval took the time to help him - he could have just as easily told him to go through his own chain of command. I knew right then I was working with a good soldier and a good man. I was fortunate to know him and serve with him. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends in this time of great sorrow. God be with you.

Dearest Kathy and family,
An awesome mentor and true Soldier; SGM will truly be missed. He was always positive and had this mischevious grin which I could never tell whether it was good or bad. His laugh could light up a room and when he told his all too familiar jokes about life and family, we were rolling with laughter and tears at the same time. It is never easy to say goodbye, but I know that he is watching down and smiling on everyone that he touched. His legacy will live on in you, Ms Kathy, your children, grandchildren, and friends.
Aloha oi Sandy, until we meet again.
