Anthony Stegeman, lovingly known as Tony, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 39. A devoted father, son, brother, and grandson, Tony will be remembered most for his calming presence, kind heart, and deep love for his family.
Born on February 5, 1986, Tony grew up with a passion for Minnesota sports-especially the Vikings-and loved spending time on the golf course. He had a sharp sense of humor and a deep love for comedy, always finding a way to make the people around him laugh. Whether through a quick-witted joke or a goofy impression, Tony had the rare gift of lifting spirits and making even the hardest days feel lighter.
His greatest pride was being a father to his son, Grayson Stegeman, who survives him and will carry forward his legacy. Tony is also survived by his beloved grandmother, Edna Garaffa; his mother, Susan R. Sistowicz; his stepfather, Michael Sistowicz; his father, Daniel Stegeman; his bonus mother, Patty Zenz; his sisters, Solie and Emma Stegeman; his partner Kristin Matuska; and beloved aunts uncles & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Nicholas Garaffa Jr. and Roger Stegeman, and his grandmother, Ramona Stegeman.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice, whose extraordinary compassion and care brought comfort and dignity to Tony's final days. Their support went above and beyond-offering not only expert care but emotional strength, guidance, and warmth to everyone who loved him.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Peninsula Point Park, 1460 S. Ferry Rd., Anoka, MN 55303. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. A "Tony Tailgate" Vikings gathering will follow, in true Tony fashion-celebrating life, laughter, and love. Encouraged to wear purple & gold or Viking apparel (jerseys accepted) for the love Tony had for the Minnesota Vikings.
Tony will be missed deeply but never forgotten. His infectious smile, joyful spirit, and the way he brought people together with laughter and love will live on in all who knew
him.
