Mrs. Swan was a dear friend of my mother who spoke frequently and fondly of "Antoinette". During the approximately 40 years since Mom moved from Winston-Salem, they enjoyed several long-distance telephone conversations during which Mrs. Swann always spoke with genuine enthsiasm. That also describes the way that I remember her. I especially respect her successful attempt to overcome a phobia, and I suspect her life became even richer thereafter.

Mrs. Swan was my mom's best friend ever, and she was like a mom to me. I will deeply miss her presence in the world. My heart goes out to all her children. I am very glad that I was able to visit her several times since I have moved away from W-S, the latest about 6-7 years ago. (I now live in CA). She played a large part in my (very) younger years. To her children: I love you guys and you all will be in my prayers. I wish that I could be there.

We are so sorry to hear of Mrs. Swan's death. We have great memories of growing up as neighbors, and she was so dear and loving to us recently in the passing of our mom. She and mama were great friends; and as I water the beautiful plant that she sent to my home in January, I think of her each time.
My love to each of you, Chester, Katherine, Donnie, and David. How blessed we are to have the memories of the wonderful childhood that we had.
Love, Jo=Anne Quackenbush Beam
