Anton Hjalmar "Tony" Austrum Jr.

Anton Hjalmar Austrum Jr. (Tony), lost his battle with cancer and passed away at Centralia Providence Hospital on November 16, 2010.
Tony was born in Lincoln, NE on August 31, 1940 to Anton & Katheryn Austrum Sr. and grew up in Miami, FL.
Surviving Tony is his loving friend, companion and soul mate Carol Johnson, Chehalis. Brother Richard & wife Shirley, California. Two "special" friends he met in the Navy, William (Bill) Wheeler, Yuma, AZ and Win Tatro, Baja, CA. Daughters Katie Howard, Texas. Angel & Joe Polka, PA. Sons, Stan & Joann, California, Dale, California. Preceeding his death is sister Violet. Grandchildren Alexis and Andrew Polka, PA, Sidney & Derek, California, Arerick Howard, Texas. His white fuzzy dog "Rowdy". Also surviving and helping him through his sickness are Carol's children Paul, Karen, Billy, Ken, Craig and Eric.
Tony served in the Navy for 25 years, retiring as a first class petty officer. He was aboard the USS Klondike and with the See Bees before starting his career in iron works as a welder.
Tony was a member of the "Golden Shellback" having been on aboard the USNS Redstone T-AGM20 during crossing of the equator on June 1, 1969.
Tony traveled around the country working on several industrial projects including the Apollo Space Program. Tony's hobbies included HAM radio, building computers, traveling the region in his RV, growing roses, gardening and panning for gold. Tony enjoyed listening to Bagpipe and drums music.
Tony requested no services but asked that any donations be made to the Lewis County Animal Shelter or Food Bank.
