Antone William "Tony" Soares

ANTONE WILLIAM SOARES 1910-2004 Antone "Tony" William Soares died in his Lovelock home Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 94 years of age. Tony was born April 11, 1910 in Hayward, California to Antonio and Laurianna Soares. He grew up in Hayward and began a long life of hard work at sixteen working for ranches as a laborer. Antone married his wife April 18, 1936, Rosalyne Souza. He continued to work and raise his family joining the Teamsters Union in 1959 where he drove truck until he retired from Silvey's Trucking in 1976. In retirement he located to Oroville, California briefly before he and his wife joined their family in Lovelock, Nevada where he spent the remainder of his life. Tony was an active member of the Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister at the Transfiguration Catholic Church in Castro Valley, California. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus at the Transfiguration Catholic Church and at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lovelock, Nevada. Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Rosalyne Soares, his parents Antonio and Laura Soares, brothers, Tony Soares, Billy Soares, Joe Soares, Manuel Soares, sisters, Marie Legg, Laura Lembeck, and Clara Bettencourt and his Grandson Anthony Gonsalves. Tony is survived by his baby sister Rosy Olberg of Hayward, CA. His children, George Soares of Lovelock, Ilene Soares of Lovelock, Toni Gonsalves and husband Stan of Lovelock, William Soares and wife Amy of Lovelock. His Grandchildren Frank Gonsalves and wife Donna of Lovelock, GeorgeAnne Soares of Red Bluff, CA, Joe Gonsalves and wife Rikki of Lovelock, Jonathan Cooper of Lovelock and Rosalyne Soares of Lovelock. His Great Grandchildren David Gonsalves and wife Savanah of Reno, NV, Michelle Gonsalves of Lovelock, Stephanie Gonsalves of Lehi, UT, Anthony Gonsalves of Lovelock , Micheal Gonsalves of Lovelock, Melissa Gonsalves of Lovelock, and Victor Gonsalves of Lovelock. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and life long friends. A Rosary will be held at the Lovelock Funeral Home Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 7:00 P.M.. His funeral will be July 9, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Priest Father Lorenzo Torrente, Lovelock, Nevada.
