Antonette “Toni” Cino Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2025.
Antonette "Toni" Liuzza Cino passed away on July 4, 2025. Toni is survived by her husband of 62 years Nat Cino, her children Joseph, Kim and Laura, her grandchildren Dylan and Jordan, her siblings Willie, Bertha, Mickey (wife Rose), Patricia (husband Bill) and Debbie, sister-in-law Carmela, brother-in-law Joseph, and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Beatrice, father Joseph, brother Joseph, sister-in-law Carol and niece Cathy.

Toni was born January 1, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey to Joseph and Beatrice Liuzza (nee Van Deusen). Toni was the oldest daughter of seven children, so much of the care for her younger siblings fell to her - and she loved and cared for them like a second mother.

Toni was very smart and excelled in school, and while teachers urged her to further her education after high school, Toni longed for a more domestic life.

She met her husband Nat when she was 16 and they were both working for Woolworths. After dating for five years they married on June 22, 1963. Toni's younger siblings were in tears as they realized this meant Toni was moving away from home.

She knew she wanted kids right away, so the wait for their first son, Joseph Nat, seemed long as he didn't come until February 1965. Two girls followed, Kim Patricia in October 1966 and Laura Ann in December 1967. Being a wife and mom was Toni's most important goal in life, and she excelled at it. Spending time with family was her greatest joy, playing pinochle with Carol and Willie, shopping with Rose and Bert, getting a little culture with Patty and Bill, or barbecues at Carmela's - all while her children and more than 20 nieces and nephews ran around like best friends.

Once the kids were grown, Toni used her parenting expertise to run a small, in home day care - only one or two babies or toddlers at a time. Babies thrived under her care and families could not have been happier to have such a loving and devoted caregiver.

Life took Toni and Nat many places. From New Jersey to Florida, (then back to New Jersey, and again back to Florida with a short stint in Arizona), finally they moved west to California in 2005 to be close to their granddaughters Dylan (2004) and Jordan (2007).

Toni and Nat moved to Oregon to be close to Laura and to get away from the desert heat of Palm Springs in 2015. Toni enjoyed retirement in Oregon, spending time shopping, gambling at the casino, playing word games, online poker and television.

Toni was beloved by her family, and maintained close relationships with her siblings and their spouses, as well as nieces and nephews who often told her she was their favorite aunt.

While her family is saddened by her passing, they also know she is now at peace. Toni wished to be cremated after her death, and did not want any type of service. Her children will scatter her ashes in some of Toni's favorite and most loved places.
