Roll Ramblers! A true legend. Inspired and shaped many young men. Never forgotten.

Nearly nine years after he died and I just ran across this obituary. Mr. Del Rio was my 7th Grade teacher at a small Catholic school in SW Pennsylvania. He was there for one year only, but made a big impression. Students who had him in the late 70s still talk about him today. I was saddened to hear that he had died at such a young age, but was glad that I ran across this memorial and am able to share my memory of him. One of the smartest, most engaging teachers I have ever had.

I miss you very much, my teacher, friend, and mentor. So many prayers of thanks for your patience when I was your student. Not a day goes by where I don't rediscover your wisdom, your faith, and your many kind acts. I pray that I, too, might be a reflection of God's love to others, as you are. Ad majorem dei Gloriam.

Sadly, I have just learned of Tony's passing from the Marquette magazine, summer edition.
40 years ago, during the summer of 74 Tony led the Freshman Orientation program at Marquette. This was a huge undertaking.
Tony was the chairman of the program that involved a year of planning, over a hundred volunteer students and a large budget.
The goal was to run a four or five day program welcoming new students to Marquette University in Milwaukee.
With Tony's leadership and planning expertise, the orientation program was a huge success.
From there, apparently Tony went on to many other successful endeavors in many cities and schools.
Well done Tony.

Very few teachers inspire greatness and command respect. Mr. Del Rio did that naturally. The lessons he taught me at Prep, I carry with me to this day. I even incorporate some of his activities with the psychology students I teach. He will definitely not be forgotten. May his memory be a blessing. #RollRamblers

Mr. Delrio was a favorite teacher of mine. As a Prep student, yearbook editor and Key Club member, I spent many hours learning from him, he never offered false praise or accolades and made a student learn to do things right. My education would not have been the same without his influence.

Del Rio Family & Prep Community:
We were so very shocked and saddened at the news of Mr. Del Rio's passing. Our son G.T. (Graduated Prep 2007 & graduating Case Western Reserve Law School 2014) really enjoyed having him as his teacher and seeing him and talking with him at any other opportunity. G.T. was always so impressed and amazed at his intelligence and quick wit. There wasn't a thing anyone could find that he hadn't experienced or had some knowledge! Prep and anyone else fortunate enough to know Mr. Del Rio are suffering a deep loss of his wonderful and truly amazing presence. He could never be forgotten because he truly touched many people's lives & we were all better for knowing him. Although it will be really a tough hurdle to get over losing him, what he accomplished in his life is and will be an inspiration to all of us and his spirit and his interests in so many things will live on in all of us and inspire us to achieve even a small portion of what he did.
May the comfort of your family and friends help you through this difficult time.
With Much Love and Our Deepest Sympathies,
May, Grant, & G.T. Miller

To the Family of Mr. DelRio, and to the Family that he leaves behind at Cathedral Prep,
While doing my internship at Prep in 2002, I found Mr. DelRio to be one of the nicest gentlemen in the world. His smile was contagious! He will be remembered as a teacher, a mentor, a friend, a confidante, and much more.
His sudden passing reminds us that we are but on lend to this world and to make the most of our days much as he did! May he rest with the angels and may he find eternal rest with his God and forever be watching over all of you!
Much Love,
Beth
