Antonio Dion Slater “Toni”
Suddenly passed away at GRU Hospital on Feb 6, 2017 where he went to be with the Lord at the age of 27 years old. Born in Jackson MS. on Feb 14, 1989, he was the first child of Darren and Paulette Newon Slater- Johnson. He would have turned 28 years old this year.
Toni lived in Jackson, MS until he was three years old when his mother married his father Darren Johnson on 23 May 1992 and moved to Killeen TX. Toni was joined by his younger brother K’shaun Johnson on 22 March 1994. During this same year, Toni relocated once again back to Jackson, MS., while his father served overseas until October 1995 when he moved to Fort Bragg, NC and attended Murray Elementary School and participated in the peewee basketball team and little league baseball teams.
In July of 1999 Toni moved once again with his family to Germany where he attended Bamberg Elementary School in Bamberg, Germany. While living in Germany, Toni was a member in the cub scouts, was a pitcher on the little league baseball team and a Red Cross Volunteer. Toni also had the opportunity to visit other countries such as Italy, Amsterdam and the Czech Republic.
July 2002 Toni and his family moved once again to Lawton OK, where he attended Central Junior high from 2002-2004 and Lawton high school where he graduated in 2008. While attending school in Lawton, OK Toni was a member of the school’s football, track, and wrestling teams.
In February 2009 Toni and his girlfriend Melisa Serrano welcomed their first daughter Tatianna born at Reynolds Army Community hospital on Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After the birth of his daughter Toni worked for the Military Exchange Service and then at Good Year Tire Plant.
In 2010 along with his family they moved to Augusta, GA., and on May 08, 2012 Toni and Melisa welcomed their second daughter Adrianna. While living in Augusta, Toni held a variety of different occupations with the final being at Allied Universal Security Company.
Antonio is survived by his loving daughters Tatianna and Adrianna Slater, his mother Paulette Johnson, father Darren Johnson, Ozell Davenport; brothers K’shaun Johnson, Edwin Davenport Jr and Nichols Davenport, sister Jamie Davenport; grandmothers Jessie Slater, Myra Johnson and Pearl Davenport, grandfathers R.W. Slater and Elwood Johnson; Great Grandfather A. W. Slater. With a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and close Friends.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 2945 Old Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, Ga., with a viewing on Sunday from 6-7 p.m. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel 4501 Wrightsboro Road Grovetown, Ga. with Pastor Howard Harding., officiating.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Toni was so polite and soft spoken. I pray God will comfort, strengthen and give you peace as you go through this transition in life. Toni will always be a special Angel camped around his family, his precious girls, his extended family and friends. He will always be remembered in the many live of those that Loved him so much.
