Apostle Pettaway Obituary
Apostle Thomas Christopher Pettaway Jr., 68 of Wethersfield, CT, entered eternal rest on February 1, 2015. Born July 23, 1946, he was the son of Thomas Pettaway Sr. and Ilena Pettaway Barnes and stepson of Muzuri Pettaway and Johnny Barnes. Apostle Thomas Pettaway was formerly employed by Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT and owned & operated "Pettaway's Grocery" in Hartford, CT. He was a pastor for more than 40 years and Superintendent of the Second Jurisdiction of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, Church of God in Christ. In addition to being a national and international preacher he was Senior Pastor of Greater Faith Church Ministries in West Hartford, CT. He is survived by his sons, Tony Pettaway, Timothy Pettaway, both of Springfield, MA, Christopher Pettaway of Atlanta, GA , Daryl Taylor (Erika) Richmond, VA, and Dexter Pettaway Sr. (Virgiree) Wethersfield, CT, and daughters Tawanda Love, Atlanta GA and Kimberly Taylor, Manchester, CT; and seventeen grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers Arthur James Pettaway (Linda) of Baltimore, MD, Jerry Linsdsey, Mobile, AL, Michael Pettaway (Mary), Mobile, AL, Broderick Pettaway (Ruby), Jacksonville, FL, and Jonathan Barnes (Mary), Atmore, AL; and four sisters Sharon Gambles (Ray Charles), Phyllis Pettaway, Alicia Pettaway, and Melissa Pettaway, all of Mobile, AL, a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves a legacy of love and kindness to be continued with his Greater Faith Church Family. Arrangements are entrusted to All Faith Memorial Chapel in South Windsor, CT. Services will be held February 7, 2015 at Greater Faith Church Ministries, 31 Prospect Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Calling hours are 10:00-11:00 A.M. Funeral is at 11:00 A.M. The repast will be at St. John Full Gospel Deliverance Church, 27 Brown Street, Bloomfield, CT. Internment will take place at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden in Theodore, Alabama.

I remember the days of pettaway grocery on albany ave back in the days when my fathers club (Jerry Mack's Cafe) was on the corner of albany and siguorney and we use to run down to the store and grab snacks and fruit on hot summer days and tom always had a smile and knew everybody in the neighborhood. I remember when he came to st john and joined the deliverance outreach teams and preached the word, I remember magnolia street and the man kept the faith all the way till the end. save a spot for me in heaven either on the organ or in choir doesn't matter.
