Aram Gurian Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 21, 2011.
Aram H. Gurian, 28, of 680 Old Homestead Highway, Richmond, died Sunday afternoon at his home following a tragic accident.

He was born in Hanover, NH., July 29, 1982, the son of Michael Gurian and Dixie Gurian, and has resided in Richmond for all of his life.

Aram was a 2001 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School, had an eclectic group of interests from drama to sports and developed friendships there with students and teachers that meant everything to him . He was Valadictorian of his graduating class at Landmark College in 2004 where he played the bagpipes for ceremonial events.

He earned his living as a self employed craftsman, specializing in remodeling, restoration and painting homes and businesses. He was the owner of Valhalla Construction and Remodeling and part owner of 3G Property Management LLC.

Aram enjoyed playing pool every Wednesday night with a regular group of friends, and was a dedicated Aikido enthusiast, also working at attaining his third queue. He loved to fish, play the bagpipes, cook, randomly break into song, and write techno music. There truly wasn't much that he could not do; you didn't need googlle.com if Aram was in the room. He was an inventor at heart and loved a good project – an artist at everything he touched. He shared his joy of life with everyone regardless of age – adults and children, sometimes teaching them to catch, clean and cook a fish or swing a hammer.
Beloved by many, he brought fun and joviality to his friends and relationships. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Heck, he'd probably just buy you a new one. A bright light was truly extinguished when he died. Lincoln said that it's not the years in your life that count but the life in your years. In Aram's short time on earth, he put a lot of life in those 28 years.

Survivors include: his mother Dixie Gurian of Richmond; his father Michael Gurian of Bremerton, WA., his sister Zerene H. Gurian of Seattle WA.,his stepfather Cameron Tease, his stepmother Ellen Reichart of Bremerton, WA., his stepsister Kellie Irish of San Francisco, CA., his stepbrothers: Riley Piska and Brendon Piska, both of Port Townsend WA., two aunts: Barbara Weiss and Dale Graham; as well as several cousins and his beloved adopted family in Richmond, Lois and Tony Camuso and their nine children.

Calling hours for Aram will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 o'clock at the Monadnock Covenant Church, corner of Base Hill Road and Route 9. All are invited to join family and friends to remember this big hearted, kind and generous man.
Services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Keene Unitarian Universalist Church atcp 69 Washington Street, Keene.

A scholarship fund has been started in Aram's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aram Gurian Scholarship Fund (at Monadnock Regional High School) c/o The Savings Bank of Walpole, 84 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. 03431.

Dixie, Cameron and Family,
You are such an inspiration to all of us as I read about Aram and how much he was loved. Clearly Aram was not only brilliant, but had a passion and excitment for creativity. Please know our thoughts are with your family through this unfair and difficult time. God's Peace and strength.

Dixie, if only I could do or say something to lift you even an inch from the sadness you are feeling...
There are no words or actions.
Please find strength to make it though.

Dixie and Cameron---I am SO very sorry to hear of your recent tragic loss. Even though I never "knew" Aram---knowing his family, and reading about him, has made me realize that is a terrible loss for me. What a gentle soul! I'm thinking of all of you. Sandy Knapp (Crotched Mountain).

Dixie, Zurene and Michael, I wish you strength in this impossible time. I think that the last time I saw Aram, he was about 14, but in just the few years that I knew him, he left a real mark on me. He was always one of the most intelligent, spirited and just plain awesome kids I've ever known. From reading so much about him from others, I know that he continued to be that kind of person for the rest of his life. I'm so, so sorry you guys, and for what you are going through right now. My heart and all my love are with you all.

Mere words cannot express my sadness for Aram's family. A beautiful soul was taken too soon. I hope Dixie, Zerene, Michael and all who were touched by Aram in their lives can come together at this time and help each other by sharing their memories. Aram will be with you in the whisper in the leaves, the song of the morning dove and forever in your hearts!
My deepest sympathy to you all!
Love Patti

One of things I enjoyed every time I visited my sister and her family in New Hampshire was getting to see their neighbor, Aram again. Always had good conversation and good clean fun and appreciated his generosity. I will miss him dearly. My sister's house is now a wonderful memorial to Aram, as he did much of the recent custom work on it. It will be my reminder of the hard working and caring individual Aram was. My condolences to Aram's family.
