I am Archie's nephew; my father Larry is his brother.
I last saw Archie at Ella's Calabash Restaurant in Calabash, NC, around October of last year. My family and I were taking my Mom & Dad out to celebrate Mom's birthday, when we serendipitously met Archie. We enjoyed good seafood and Archie's wonderful company for hours, and it made me remember the cheerfulness my uncle always brought with him to a family gathering.
I also remembered the stories my Dad told about the things Archie had done and had seen. He was there in Berlin when the wall went up, and he lived to see the day it came down. He served his country for a long time in the military and trained many young men to fight well, and in doing so helped to defend our freedom, directly and indirectly, for many years to come.
He was a typical member of the Graham clan: hard-working, humble, and deserving much more than what he got.
We love you Archie, and you'll be missed dearly.
