Ariana D. Magnifico

1952-2010 NORTH ADAMS Ariana D. "Ann" Magnifico, 57, left this life Friday, April 9, 2010, at Berkshire Medical Center, after a year long battle with cancer.

Born in North Adams on Sept. 22, 1952, daughter of Joseph P. and Barbara T. Pinsonneault Magnifico, Ariana attended the former St. Joseph's School, graduating with the class of 1970. She studied at Assumption College and graduated with a BA in English in 1974.

She worked for General Electric Co. as an illustrator and editor. She remained at General Dynamics after the takeover until she left to pursue her passion in the healing arts at Kripalu in Lenox.

Ariana followed her path to being a healing arts specialist by first becoming a Reiki Master and Teacher. She then obtained her license as a certified massage therapist followed by specializations in Trager, Craniosacral, Positional Release therapies as well as structural evaluations. Through this she was able to educate, heal and comfort many, something she always strived to do.

Ariana leaves behind her parents, her sister, Lynn Magnifico Senecal; two nephews, Stephen P. and Ryan J. Senecal; Stephens's fiancée, Cheryl Woytowicz; Candida Rufo Chilson; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her four beloved cats, Sylvestor, Battina, Jack and Smudge.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: There will be no calling hours or services per her request. There will be a "Celebration of Life" on Sunday, Apr. 18, 2010 at the Eagles in North Adams from 12-4 in the afternoon.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Pittsfield Chapter, where she was an active and passionate survival chairperson. Donations may be sent in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, MA 01247.

I worked with Ariana at GE for a few years and we became good friends. When she left the company it was harder to see her often but we managed. I saw her last summer and she was optimistic about her illness. I am so sad that she is gone but she will always be in my mind and prayers - she was such a special person and I am happy that I knew her.

Barb, Lynn and Joe:

Extremely hard to put into words the feeling that came over me when I heard of Ann's passing. After I came back home from my last NA visit, Patty tried to keep me up to date on Ann's status, but things seemed to change so quickly. Ann and I had the chance to talk a couple of times on the phone, and exchanged a few e-mails. What never ceased to amaze me was her sense of humor and incredible positive spirit through all of this. I still have so many books in my study on healing and alternative medicines that she recommended over the years. Ann was such a wonderful friend and she will always have a special place in my heart. I will be with you all in spirit on Sunday.

To Anne's Family,
My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with you. I had the pleasure of working with Anne for many years, at General Electric through to General Dynamics. Her generousity and fullness of spirit brightened the lives of those around her; she never uttered an unkind word. May you be comforted knowing how many lives she touched and how many people she helped over the years. God bless you all.

Dear Barbara, Joe and Lynn,

It was a shock and saddening to hear about Ann's passing. I met her through Bruno and Rosemary Rufo around 40 years ago. The oldest memory I have of her was - she took myself, Mark and Ron Rufo, our cousin Michael Rufo and a friend of Mark's to see a movie at the old Drive-In theater which is where Walmart is now in North Adams. We were all young teenagers, Ann was a few years older. She didn't seem to mind putting up with our rowdiness, we all had boyhood crushes on her. She was a warm, wonderful person and will be greatly missed... My deepest condolences.

Mr. & Mrs. Magnifico and Lynn,

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Ann's passing. I loved her spirit and belief that we are all just a small part of a much larger picture.

I met her when I first moved to the Berkshires and was grateful she let me rent a room until I was able to get my own place. It was during that time she became my friend.

Please accept my condolences and know prayers are coming your way.

God Bless you all!

I am deeply saddened by the news of Ann's passing. I have been in contact with her sporadically over the years and she never let on of the severity of her condition. She always remained optimistic. I phoned her today to find out how she was doing. Too little too late. She was my first love and college sweetheart and will always have a special place in my heart. She was so special. I will miss her.
