I'm sorry to learn of the passing of Arlene Wasylynchuk. I saw her powerful installation at the Alberta Art Gallery last winter, and am certain that her presence will be greatly missed in the Alberta art community. My heartfelt codolences to her family and friends.

Dear Levern, Michael, Richard and Shawn,
Our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your wife, mother and friend. We have also lost a loyal friend, wonderful neighbour and an extremely talented artist. We are very bless to have had the privilege of obtaining a collection of Arlene's art which we will cherish forever. Arlene's presence will be dearly missed at all our holiday dinners and family functions, and will be especially missed by Jacob, Nicholas and John who were very fond of her and considered her as their special aunt.
Her memory will always be with us.

I really cannot explain how much I will miss Arlene's creative energy, kindness and generosity. Our family dinners at Wasylynchuk's were always a pleasure, and truly so much fun.....and delicious!
I will dearly miss our evenings at the ballet & modern dance performances where we shared ideas & discussed the arts. It was like being seen with a celebrity at these events. Arlene would welcome to introduce me to her vast circle of talented and artistic friends & colleagues.
I thank Arlene for Saltus Illuminati. I loved the immense scale of Arlene's work, and being able to experience it to scale was phenomenal.Arlene brought all of us into her creative world and opened my eyes to an new interpretation of the beauty of nature.
You are so dearly missed as a friend and a Canadian artist and we will cherish the picturesque legacy you have left us.
Love Kathleen

As our neighbour for over 30 years, Arlene would often bring over treats she had prepared and gifts for special occasions. She was always very thoughtful and kind. We were so fortunate to have known Arlene and to have one of her paintings to remember her by.

Our sincere condolences to Levern, Richard, & Michael.

I met Arlene while taking spanish at the Edmonton Hispanic Bilingual Association. We gravitated towards each other and through our love of the language we became friends. At the time I knew nothing of her talent or her accolades...only that she was a wonderful person to be around...caring and funny and we enjoyed the time we spent together. I was so very saddened to hear of her passing and will always think of her as someone I was blessed to have known...adios amiga

Dear Wasylynchuk family - I knew your mother only briefly as she shared a room with my mother at the Cross this past July for a short time. I was immediately impressed by her kindness and thoughtfulness. My first thought after meeting and talking with her was that she had such beauty, the kind that radiates from the inside out. During one of our talks she spoke of her boys with such tremendous love and told me how very much she was looking forward to having you both there with her. My mother passed in late August and I understand all too well the sorrow that envelopes one when someone so special leaves us. I hope that you may take some comfort in knowing your mother was so loved by so many.

I do not know you personally, just of having seen you in passing, as my mom was in the bed next to your mom at the Cross this summer. I just wanted to say that although I did not get to know your mom, she was very kind to my children who did visit her with my aunt. We to, lost our mom, on August 26 and understand the grief. I am very sorry for your loss, honour her always.

Dear Levern, Richard & Michael
With Larry's passing just over a year agoI know how difficult it is to lose your spouse & parent. How well I recall the fun times we had with our families at our annual August long weekend in Fairmont Hot Springs. Some would golf, play tennisrelax or swim. But Arlene would take her sketch book & hike into the mountains. I will cherish the painting she gifted Larry & I on the accasion of our 25th wedding anniversary.

I met Arlene briefly on her last visit to Grand Cayman when she came to visit my studio with Lynda Parsons. I was instantly touched by her warm and sincere personality. She gave me great advice which I will always cherish. I know she will be greatly missed.

I loved Arlene's presence at ArtsHab. She is the kind of artist and woman I aspire to be. A kind-hearted, generous person who is passionate and driven to create new art. I will miss seeing her at work in her studio working on her big colourful paintings and mylar forests, always open for a visit.
