I would like to send my deepest condolences to Arne's family. You have my heartfelt sympathy. Loss is a difficult thing to live with and though I may not have known Arne as well or as long I can tell you he will be deeply and sorely missed. My name is Maureen and I work the third shift at the Village Pantry on the corner of Morehouse and Sagamore in West Lafayette. I first met Arne when he came in for coffee early one morning. I suppose he struck some chord that first meeting. My grandfather was also a WW2 veteran, a marine and it almost felt like he was with me whenever Arne came in. It was not long before I learned how he liked his coffee and I took a great deal of pleasure making his coffee for him. It gave me great joy to see his smile every morning, and to talk with him. I enjoyed listening to his gentle wisdom. When covid hit I began taking his coffee out to him and every Sunday he would say " My wife ordered a paper this morning. " He would always tell me I was a sweetheart and recently asked me what he could do for me for Christmas. "Come see me, that's all I need for Christmas. " I told him. I had the honor of getting to know him a little at least though I wish I had gotten time to know him much more and I am honored that he gave me a small pamphlet with one of his stories. I will cherish that small piece of paper the rest of my life. My nights at work will not shine so brightly with him gone, making his coffee was the highlight of my day. I will miss his smiling face and his gentle words very, very deeply. It is my hope that I might one day purchase one of his paintings, something I can keep of him, made by his hand. Until then I have a small piece of paper with a story upon it to remind me of him every day.

Great neighbor. I bought one of his paintings years ago. It is still hanging in my house.

Me and my wife met Arne through their daughter (Kristin). We are blessed to hear good things about him at Upper Room Christian Fellowship. We praise God for Arne's dedication and devotion to the growth of the church. Our love to the family and the whole church.

Arne he was one of the nicest man that I've ever have known. He always seemed to be about the Lord's business. He was kind, generous, and faithful. A true disciple of Christ.

I met Arne quite a few years ago threw Rick Moon. He was truly a remarkable man. He told me about a coconut that was sitting on a shelf in his art room that he sent to his parents from the islands during WWll. It was an honor to have talked to him and a real hero. Like my Dad said who was a WWll veteran, the real heroes never came home. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
