Arnie Olafson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 20 to Feb. 21, 2009.
ARNI OLAFSON April 23, 1923 Feb.17, 2009 Arni was born and raised on the family farm near Morden, Manitoba. At age 18 he joined the RCAF. While stationed at #2 Bombing and Gunnery School near Mossbank he flew Bolingbroke aircrafts, pulling targets for gunners over Old Wives Lake. In 1945 Arni married Linda Nagel. After 7 years in Winnipeg, they returned to Mossbank. For 15 years Arni owned and operated the Mossbank I.H. dealership. He then began working for Clermont Equipment of Assiniboia and remained an upstanding employee for 25 years. Arni was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix or build anything, always having just the right tools along in his Scout truck. He was an active member of the Mossbank Legion. Arni loved to visit, sharing stimulating conversations over a cup of coffee and maybe a cookie or two. He loved to travel, making many trips to the coast to see his family there. He was especially looking forward to the birth of his first great grandchild. Arni is survived by his son Greg, grandchildren Shawn and Cori, their mother Bonnie, sister Margaret and several nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed by his extended family, special friend Lena and many, many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Mossbank Hall on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment Mossbank Cemetery. 1322884

Arni was a major part of my life. He was always there as I grew up. It was always great to see Arni and have coffee and a visit. He was always full of interesting stories. He will be greatly missed.
