Arnold was born on Oct. 3, 1923, the youngest of eight to Otto and Lula (Crothers) Boone. In December 1948, in Traverse City, he married his loving wife of 59 years, Gladys Manville, who survives.
Arnold was a World War II Army veteran and served in the South Pacific as an engineer.
He was part-owner of Boone and Boone, Inc., with his brother, Claude, in Leelanau County, and later moved to Indiana, where he continued in the excavating business until his retirement to North Carolina. He wintered in Florida.
Arnold is survived by his wife; sister, Ledema Oding; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Dalin; two brothers, Kenneth and Claude Boone; four sisters, Bertha Winowiecki, Velma Oding, Avis Allison and Hope Durga.
A funeral service will be held today, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior to the service, at Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. Burial will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
