Dear ED, (aka BOOMER)

Your final transfer of duty stations has left us all sadden, grieving and missing you. We understand that your departure was not your choice even though you have proudly accepted the duties of Guarding Heaven´s Gate for eternity. Stand proud my brother, you earned it. Your journey here on earth has taught you a lot, touched and helped so many. You have overcome obstacles, endured unimaginable challenges and have exceeded the expectations of those of us who loved you most. True however, your wit, humor and laughter are forever with us as your life touched each of our hearts.
Now with Todd, Mom and Dad, you can watch over and protect Gloria as she continues her journey of life without you being physically present. We continue to share our memories of your journey, like standing with us in our Longjohns underwear on C street in public view in front of the Bucket of Blood Saloon or dawning Civil War attire for Memorial Day
or driving your M151 Jeep in the parade for Veterans Day. We miss the cigar aroma after part taking in an adult beverage or two while David John sang familiar classic western ballads like; It´s the Cowboy Life for Me. Cowboy Bill, Shenandoah, Comanche and My Rifle, My Pony, and me. I can still see you standing at the Washoe Club saloon with your double barrel coach gun at the ready with 6 other 601 cowboys at your side, your grin was from ear to ear.
Yes, my brother in arms, we did it right! Kept the peace when could and held those accountable who could not. Hooting and hallower in the Bucket "That a Boy Dave", "Ill drink that" and "that´s what she said" are in the memories of all who participated in your retirement festivities on top of the mountain. With Gloria and Rita in Victorian Attire and you and I cowboyed up for a Saturday night in Cowboy town, you are truly missed brother BOOMER!
Carry on Pardner, this Jarhead Cowboy will see you again at the gates.

Ed, 54 years together of good and bad times. Through thick and thin we were able to make it through together. One of my favorite memories were the bicycle races we sponsored. I still laugh at your efforts in the race course mud trap when one of the mothers hit the mud face first. I'll share so others can laugh when they think of you. Til we meet again. Larry Martinez

One of my favorite memories of Ed was at my annual Men's Luncheon when I was able to reunite him with his fellow Ukiah High School classmate Bob Huff 53 years after a chance meeting on the battlefield in Viet Nam. Ed loved it here at Jorge's Cantina and loved being behind the bar so he could talk to everyone. He never met a stranger. I will have a place setting in Ed's memory at my table at my next Men's Luncheon. Godspeed my friend. Till we meet again.......

Ed, you were a mentor of mine. I valued you and your friendship. Thanks for stopping by the house. I didn't know you were ill.
