Obituary

Arnold Joseph Kostrzewski, 80, Stephen, MN, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005, at his son's home in Karlstad, MN. Arnold was born to Theodore and Anna (Budziszewski) Kostrzewski, March 19, 1925, in Wanger Township, rural Stephen, MN. He was a life-long resident of the Florian/Stephen communities. He married Adelle Troska on October 24, 1950, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Warren, MN. They made their home in Stephen, MN, where they farmed, as well as, owned and operated Adelle's Cafe. Adelle passed away October 7, 1993. Arnold was a member of the Church of St. Stephen, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the local Lions Club. Arnold enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was a quiet man and a great listener. Other interests included his love for music (whether it be listening, singing, or dancing) and playing cards. He is survived by one son: Perry (Bonnie), of Karlstad, MN; five daughters: Pam Hvidsten, of Grand Forks, ND; Penny (Dennis) Rapacz, of Burnsville, MN; Paulette Anderson (Rick Harbott), of Thief River Falls, MN; Priscilla (Rick) Steinke, of Stephen, MN; and Petula (Ron) Gohdes, of Parker, CO; several grandchildren; one brother: John (Maggie), of Stephen, MN; three sisters: Natalie Adolphson, of Argyle, MN; Joan Pawlowski, of Warren, MN; and Audrey Frazier, of Reedsport, OR; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife and infant son, Dennis; grandson, Christian Arnold Kostrzewski; brother, Evald; and son-in-law, Dan Hvidsten. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 21, 2005, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Stephen, MN. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tues. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and the rosary following, all at the church, and one hour prior to Mass on Wed. morning. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery at Stephen with the Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad in charge of arrangements.

Arnold was a very special person. I had the privilege of knowing him as Pam's dad and Dan's father-in-law, and also got to work with him on the farm. God bless his spirit forever.
