I was very sad to learn of Dr. Oates passing. I was a student at TC Williams during his first years there as Principal and I remember him to this day as a kind man! And I loved reading about his illustrious career! To Mrs. Oates and the whole Oates family may Arnold Oates's memory always be a blessing.

I have many super-positive memories of my time as Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler (preparing the way for Stuart Baskin). Martha and Arnold welcomed me and made sure that my experience in the congregation was a good one! Arnold was my main contact person in the church during that time, and I'm grateful for the entire time I spent in Tyler. He and Martha were so much a part of my year in Tyler and I'm grateful to them both.
