Arthur and Norma Circle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2025.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norma and Arthur (Dick) Circle, who died together on July 19, 2025, at their home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Their passing marks the end of a lifetime of love, devotion. companionship, and shared adventures. They were inseparable from each other. A true love story.

Norma (90) and Dick (91) were married on March 6, 1953 and celebrated 72 years of marriage.

Dick was born in Yakima, Washington to Fern Munday and Oran Circle. Attended Edmonds High and University of Washington. Norma was born in Buena, Washington to Orpha Meyer and Fay John Meyer and attended Everett High.

Dick was a US Naval Air Vet, serving during the Korean War from 1952-1955.

In 1951, it was suggested Dick meet one of "Mary's" sisters named Norma and he said he would like to set up a date at a Dance Hall in Everett called Normana Hall. It was"love at first sight." Dick liked Norma a lot. He called her his soul mate. They had a 7 month romance and then married. They went bowling on their wedding night. They spent their honeymoon in a sleazy motel with a hot plate. They always said "We were in love and nothing else mattered"

Two months later Dick shipped off for induction into the Navy. He returned in 1955 to get an amazing job making 8.00 a day. They were happy! Dick and Norma then both worked at Boeing. Dick got his pilot's license. In 1959 they moved to Sitka, and Norma, a sweet librarian, said no way. Soon she joined him and it was their happiest living in a trailer with a view of Mt Edgecombe. In 1964 after the earthquake they headed to California. Woodside then Rancho Cordova Ca., where Norma worked for the State Controllers office, then to Pleasanton Ca in 1969. Norma worked for a very influential legal firm in Danville. In 1976 their overseas journey began in Manama Bahrain, Norma was finally ready to go with the promise of a lavish wardrobe. They did extensive travel in the Middle East meeting Sheiks and learning a new different culture together. Dick and Norma fell in love with these new adventures. Then on to Montreal Canada and to their final resting place in Rancho Mirage Ca.

They are survived by their 3 children, Loran (Christina) Circle from Ohio, Sherry Circle from Arizona, Richard (Tina) Circle from Alaska. Their grandchildren, Melissa (Carlos) DeLaRiva, Brandon (Polly) Circle, Ryan (Andrea) Circle, Dustin Talbot. They also are survived by 11 Great Grandchildren.

They will be deeply missed by many, but their love story will forever be an inspiration to us all and will live on in our hearts.

See the guy in the middle? That´s me! And I am the luckiest man in the world to have mom and dad as my parents. They allowed me to fail so I could learn. They never helped me when I was down and out or lazy, but would give the shirt off their backs if I was working hard and needed some help. They made me learn how to get out of my own problems. They gave me the opportunity to see the world, to travel, and to love. I always had a tough time calling them Dick and Norma. They are and will always be, my mom and dad. Like I said, there was no one in the world luckier than me. I´ve always had only one regret... I never found the deep love and commitment they had for each other. I´m going to miss you terribly, mom and dad. I´ll love you both always.

Although it is never easy to say goodbye or accept that we may not see our loved ones again in this life, it is deeply comforting to know that we will reunite one day. I believe this with absolute certainty! Even though my Grams and Gramps have left this earthly world, I know I will see them again, and our reunion will be truly amazing. I am so grateful to call these two incredible human beings Grams and Gramps. In times like these, it´s easy to dwell on the "shoulda, coulda, wouldas," but I choose to be thankful for the extraordinary example they set as a married couple. Their companionship was built on an enduring love that not even death can break. I hope and pray that my marriage can resemble even half of what their marriage was!

Saying goodbye is sad and difficult, but what a beautiful conclusion to an inspiring love story that lives on through the friends and family so blessed to have known Norma and Dick Circle-better known to their grandkids as Grams and Gramps.

I love you both and can´t wait until we meet again!
