Brother we will all miss you, you and Ellen always treated us like family. It is a good thing you never caught Pat & I sneaking out of the bar when you and Ellen were coming in to open up. Tell Pat we still think about him.

Brother and Ellen gave me my very first job back in 1972, and those were some of the most enjoyable days of my young life! All of the Conways will always hold a very special place in my heart! My family enjoyed the railroad Inn for many years, and I enjoyed the friendship and support I always received from Brother. Even after having "grown up and moved away", I would come back to the restaurant every time I was in town, and Brother would greet me warmly, and always asked about my family. A very special man who no doubt always kept his warm smile. I've enjoyed reading all the comments here, and am not surprised that so many people remember him so fondly. My thoughts are with all of his family, especially Mike, Marcie, and the kids.

Brother was the type of guy that always made you feel welcome and was always ready to share a cup of coffee. He was the salt of the earth, I am honored to have known him. He was a simple man yet very smart and an astute judge of character. He was a Brother to anyone that earned his loyalty. Bowie has lost a great citizen and friend.

The first time I met Brother, I was 6 yrs old and my sister & I were playing jacks on the floor of his bar(1961)& he brought us Cokes in those old glass bottles, and life was awesome. The last time I saw him, was in IHOP about 50 yrs later (2010) & he invited my husband & I to join him & his good friend, & we spent several hrs enjoying his stories of the Merchant Marine service in WW2. Also awesome. Brother was one of those people who makes Bowie feel like home.

How does one measure friendship ?
by the second?...
by the minute?...
by the hour?...
NO
by the deeds of the MAN himself

Our frienship spans back nearly 40 years, from outings to Laurel Park to sit down dinners at the Railroad Inn. His kind, gentle smile always lit up the room and made those visits more like sitting at the family table. We will truly miss this wonderful man.
