On January 28, 2023, Arthur “Sonney” Mansfield Jr. passed away at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA after a long battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.
Sonney was born in Boston, MA to Catherine and Arthur Mansfield and lived throughout Massachusetts. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran with over 30 years of sobriety through NA and AA. Sonney was an avid Boston sports fan, especially basketball and the Celtics. He ran the Boston Marathon at age 44. He belonged to the Catholic Church and was a very spiritual man. His big family was also a source of his pride, and he was looked up to as a father, uncle, and brother.
Sonney is preceded by his mother Catherine and father Arthur; brothers Kevin and Nelson; and his Sister Audrey. He is survived by his wife Wenya; siblings Judy and Joe, Maizy and Sonny, Cathy and Frank, Midge and Michael, Cheryl, and Darleen; his children; grand children; and great grand children.
Close family and friends are welcome to attend his burial at Oak Grove cemetery in Medford, MA at 11am on Friday, February 10, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to join his celebration of life at Anthony’s in Malden, MA on the same day from 12-2pm.
