Art: I think of you often, and I will never forget you. ... Please keep an eye out for Bosston who joined you last August. ... Your Friend, Bill

I feel blessed to have been Art's friend for the last three years of his life. I know, had we been contemporaries, Art and I would have been close buddies. ... I miss him, and our many long visits. He became a hero to me when I learned about his remarkable career in the U.S. Marines -- throughout WW II. And, because of my strong interest in the subjects, Art fascinated me when he talked with me about his career achievements in journalism/English. ... And I loved the way he loved his wife, Audrey. ... Art Matula was a gentle soul. RIP, my friend. (Bill Irwin - San Diego - [email protected] - La Mesa Pet Therapy)

Arthur was President of the San Diego Watercolor Society from 1973 - 74. The members who were active then remember him fondly. I'm sure his art enriched his life as his leadership and talent enriched the lives of others. Beverly Berwick, President, SDWS

I am a present member of SDWS, and I did not know Mr. Matula personally. But I would like to express my sympathy to his family. SDWS is now a thriving organization and I know it is due in large part to the previous officers like Mr. Matula who gave us such a good foundation. Sincerely Mary Juanita Wood
