Suddenly on Sunday, September 23, 2012 age 85. Beloved husband of the late Rejeanne Methot (nee Raymond). Much loved father of Paul Methot (Louise Dubois), Suzette Methot (Richard Thompson), Don Methot (Martina Nelligan) and Richard Methot. Cherished grandpa of James Methot. Survived by his sister Pauline Sabourin and predeceased by his brothers Maurice, Aurele and Paul Methot. Arthur Methot was born and lived his entire life in Ottawa, the city he loved. His stories of growing up in Lower Town during the Great Depression, the son of a barber, were fascinating and described in great detail. As a handsome young man he met Réjeanne Raymond and it was love at first sight, they were married in December 1946 just a few months before the end of WWII. Their union would produce four children and last a lifetime. Art's lively and affable personality combined with a good business sense and hard work insured him a prosperous future. Trained as a mechanic, he used his skills to their best advantage and soon was the owner of a garage and gas station on Montreal Rd. Eventually he diversified to swimming pools and leisure products, the result being Mermaid Pools which became a family affair. He retired 20 years ago but stayed active until the end of his life. Friends and Family may visit the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa on Monday, October 1, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm & 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 1 pm. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.
