Dear Art,
As a young and recently graduated architectural intern, your offer of employment made a life-long impression on me. Your witty description of fringe benefits at Arcop of; all the coffee I wished to consume, free access to the office's washrooms and all the overtime work I wished to take upon my shoulders was an eye-opener. Nevertheless they were only a very small tip of the iceberg of the valuable benefits of working at Arcop. Later when we became partners, your wealth of professional experience was much appreciated in situations that seemed extreme to me, at that time an inexperienced junior partner, but, with a few words, you would zero in and identify the essence of the situation and diffuse the stress of not knowing where to focus my energies. For all of this, I thank you very much. Your expertise and guidance made me a more competent and professional architect.
To Art's family, please accept my most sincere condolences. He will be missed but there is consolation in knowing that Art had a positive impact on family, friends and professional collaborators.
Edward Hercun, architect, ex-Arcop Associates and Le Groupe Arcop partner.
